Availability: This workflow depends on feature enablement and account eligibility. Ask Wonderschool to confirm the supported account setup for your program.
A teacher whose child attends your program needs access for two different roles. Wonderschool's eligible existing-account staff workflow is designed to add the staff role while preserving the person's relationship to their child's family record.
Being a parent does not automatically grant staff permissions, and being staff does not replace a person's parent relationship. In the supported workflow, an authorized director adds the staff role to an eligible multi-role account. The existing parent contact remains distinct from the staff contact, even though they belong to the same person.
Eligibility matters. Not every existing account can be added through this path, and an email already associated with a staff contact at the school is not treated as a new staff member. A blocked account should be reviewed with Wonderschool rather than worked around by creating confusing duplicate records.
Confirm that the person has the intended staff responsibilities and still has the appropriate family access. When a staff relationship ends, review the staff removal separately from any continuing parent relationship. Removing staff access should not be confused with removing the family from the program.
When the role changes, explain what the person should be able to do as staff and how they will continue to access their child's information. Confirm both views with the person through the supported account workflow. If employment ends, review staff access separately from the continuing family relationship.
Account roles can affect web access, family billing, staff time records, and mobile experiences. Use supported versions and confirm the workflow available to your organization. This is not permission to share logins or give a parent broad administrative access simply because they work at the program.
No. The described workflow requires an eligible multi-role account and organization availability.
A continuing parent relationship is separate. Review each role and its current status rather than treating them as one permission.
