Our Teachers

Hello! I am Shao, the Director and Head Teacher of Smiles Wonderschool. I have 15 years of experience working with young children. I am a native Chinese speaker but I also speak English. I also hold a university degree from China and a Child Development Associate Teacher Permit from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. I have ten years of bilingual preschool teaching experience and I previously taught at a Montessori Preschool in Cupertino and the New World Child Development Center in Sunnyvale. I continue to participate in training workshops and programs related to early childhood care, education, health, and nutrition. I am certified in Pediatric First Aid, Pediatric CPR, and Preventative Health Practices.

I enjoy working with children and celebrating their accomplishments. My goal is to continuously learn better methods to teach students and to work with each individual to make sure (s) he learns the subject matter. 

Mr. Will (Assistant Teacher)

Mr. Will is Ms. Janna’s husband. He is a native speaker of English and holds a B.S. in Finance from San Jose State University. He teaches English lessons and sports at Smiles Daycare and ensures that all the children get a balanced dose of academics and physical education every day.

“Miss Janna, I usually call her “Shao,” is a teacher at Smiles Day Care with interpersonal skills that worked very well with Kevin, who is my son. From the beginning he has no knowledge of Mandarin. Now he can count the number in Mandarin and understand Mandarin. Shao teaches Kevin to have good social manners. My son is always courteous, whether it’s greeting someone or asking to be excused. Kevin always brings his art works home from school every time. I have the art work Gallery. We keep all the art works that he bring back home until today. Kevin often takes these art works and plays with them. He can remember and get what they are in Mandarin and English. Shao has very good way to approach with children, simple and easy for them to understand. She makes things familiar for Kevin to learn in combination of learning and having fun. When we walked home, he counted the flowers and said the colors in Mandarin and English. I would say that Shao is the best teacher that Kevin ever has. Location

Smiles Wonderschool is located in a welcoming, inviting single family home in the East San Jose neighborhood.

We’ve designed our care environment with play and learning areas that allow children to explore various developmentally-appropriate activities based on their interests.

Children will have some outdoor time everyday in my private yard or outdoor space. Children need space to run, jump, and move!

At Smiles Wonderschool, I want to provide an enriching environment where children feel free to explore and play.

If you would like to enroll, please submit an application. Please note that we require tours for all prospective families. Please do not submit an application if you have not visited the program.

4. Enroll

After reviewing your application, we’ll send an enrollment invitation. Upon accepting your invitation you’ll pay your enrollment fee, fill out enrollment documents and review our Parent Handbook.
