Our Teachers

Hello! I am Edith, the founder of Sweet Home Wonderschool. I have been running my program in our community for 11 years. I have been living in San Jose for 20 years but my family is originally from Mexico.

I have received multiple certificates for professional development classes I have taken throughout the years. I believe it is so important to continue to develop your craft and have a growth mindset. I also have Child Development units from Mission College.

I am also a mother of 3 kids. I have twin boys and a daughter. They are the light of my life. My daughter was a part of my program and I am so grateful to have spent that time together. I am always working and I love what I do. However, when the day is over I love to go dancing. It allows me to reset for the following day!

Testimonials

I want to say thank you Ms. Edith for everything you’ve done for both my children. You started taking care of Jocelyn a couple years back and helped her to prepare for kinder and to be one of the advanced kids in her classroom! That’s why now I’m very happy to have my baby Angel under your care, he’s learning so many things at such a young age since he’s only 17 months old. I’m very happy with all that you’ve done, there are no words to express my gratitude I feel towards you and your staff. I would highly recommend you to any parents in search of care for their children. Thank you for all the patience and genuine love you give to each and everyone of the children that is under your care.

My son has been attending Daycare with Edith since April 2019. I am extremely happy with the care my son has been given. Edith’s daycare is clean, safe & fun for the children. She works on the child’s development and it shows. My son loves daycare and cries when he has to leave because he is having fun. I would highly recommend this day care.

Philosophy

Sweet Home Family Wonderschool is designed with your child in mind. At our school, children valued and respected for who they are. Our goal is to provide a safe and encouraging classroom environment where your child’s curiosity will be welcomed and nurtured.

What makes us different?

  • We are innovative and fun
  • We implement “Hands on Learning” daily
  • We embrace culture and diversity
  • We offer a high quality bilingual education with a native speaker focusing on the foreign language instruction
  • We have a unified approach including science, math, health, movement, art, literacy and more

Location

Sweet Home Wonderschool is located in a welcoming, bright single family home in the East San Jose neighborhood.

We’ve designed our care environment with play and learning areas that allow children to explore various developmentally-appropriate activities based on their interests.

Children will have some outdoor time everyday in my private yard or outdoor space. Children need space to run, jump, and move!

At Sweet Home Wonderschool, I want to provide an environment that supports the cognitive, social, and emotional growth of each child.

About our program

Our Vision

Sweet Home Wonderschool’s mission is to provide children with high quality interactions. We do this by embodying the following characteristics in every interaction and experience we have with children:

  • We remember to stop and use our senses to find out what your child is feeling, thinking and needing
  • We encourage the creation of shared positive emotions between you and your family
  • We help to create positive Self-image - “I feel respected and capable” “I like me!”
  • We educate your child by giving them opportunities to build School Readiness
    • Vocabulary: words and their meaning
    • Letter Recognition
    • Book and Print
    • Sound Awareness
    • Conversation building language

Our Food

At Sweet Home Wonderschool we cook homemade Mexican food daily. Everything I cook for my family is the same that I feed my kids. Some examples include chicken soup, tacos with homemade tortillas and children salad. I love to let the kids help me with meal prep. One of our all time favorite activities is baking with the kids. On Fridays we bake, most recently we made oatmeal cookies :).

Overall, we believe that routine is so important and trusting that kids are capable of doing more than you think. We are always caring and loving with our interactions with kids and each other. We love the work that we do!
