Our Teachers
Hola! My name is Celia Lopez and while I am originally from Guadalajara in Jalisco, Mexico, I moved to California over 18 years ago and have spent my time in the United States gaining professional experiences in early childhood education. I have my Child Development Associate Teacher Permit from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing and have completed over 35 units of coursework ranging from English as a Second Language to Supporting Children with Special Needs.
My two daughters are part of the reason why I chose to have an in-home program, and both of them can be found playing with and supporting students here at Celia’s Family Childcare as adults and assistant teachers.
Achievements
Philosophy
Celia’s Family Child Care and Wonderschool provides licensed care for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers in a loving home setting that allows each child to grow to his or her full potential.
We believe that by providing children with a space that feels like home, they will be able to thrive. Our space is filled with materials and activities that are developmentally appropriate and that foster conversation in both English and Spanish, cultivating each child’s language skills. We strive each day to meet the unique needs of all children and our commitment to kids can be found in our comforting and safe environment.
Location
Located in the heart of South San Jose, our home is nestled in a safe neighborhood right off of Senter Rd and highway 101. Families are able to drop off and pick up by parking right in front of our home or in the driveway and children enjoy daily time outside in our grassy lawn and under our covered porch.
About our program
At Celia’s Family Child Care we believe that children are most comfortable when they feel loved. Our home setting gives children a sense of safety and security, which encourages them to explore. Children and parents appreciate the friendly atmosphere that starts when we greet families each morning and that lasts until they leave in the afternoon.
We support language development in English and Spanish. Children are sponges, and access to high quality educational experiences before the age of 5 are shown to have the biggest impact on language acquisition. No matter what language your child speaks at home, they will grow comfortable with both of the languages used here with enough time in our program.
Students at different developmental stages benefit from a routine that is tailored to them. Our daily routine matches students’ interest levels - we hold circle times for our infants and toddlers separately to help them get the maximum amount of benefit, but also do whole-program songs, dancing, and rhymes to foster a sense of community. Our circle time is the highlight of each morning as students share the things that make them excited.
