Our Teachers

Hello! I am Irma Manzano, the founder of Manzano Family Child Care Wonderschool. I was inspired to start my own program because as a mom, I saw a need for high-quality care in my community. I worked in a licensed center for seven years before deciding to open my own program. I received my Associate’s degree in Child Development so that I could use my educational experience to create and run an excellent child care program. I love taking care of children and learning best practices in early childhood education

Some of my hobbies include cooking, reading, and arts & crafts projects. I enjoy drawing and painting with children to help express their creativity.

My family is from El Salvador and I am proud to offer a Spanish bilingual program. I welcome diverse families and appreciate learning about other cultures.

Philosophy

At Manzano Family Child Care Wonderschool, I believe in comforting kids and ensuring they are safe and secure. I give them the attention that they need to learn and grow. If they are interested in something, I try to expand their knowledge in that subject by letting them express their curiosity and supporting them in finding answers.

Trust and kindness are two core values of my program. I work hard to build trust with the families who decide to enroll their children here because I believe that parents are important partners in raising children with strong family values like love and respect.

I believe in a “whole child” approach to child care where I focus on each child’s social emotional growth. I want to teach to kids to share and be open-minded to different cultures. It is my goal to help raise empathetic, global citizens who get along well with other children. Children and parents will always feel welcomed here. I want families to feel proud of their child attending this program that we have thoughtfully designed to help prepare children for success in school and beyond.

Children will LOVE spending time outdoors in my program! I think children need time in fresh air because they love running, playing with balls, planting and exploring. We provide a supportive and nurturing environment where children can play to their heart’s content while also knowing they are safe and secure.

Location

Manzano Family Child Care Wonderschool is located in a welcoming and warm single family home in the Willowbrook neighborhood.

We’ve designed our care environment with play and learning areas that allow children to explore various developmentally-appropriate activities based on their interests. Some of our favorite areas include a block area (for gross motor skills and problem solving), reading / cozy area (for literacy, relaxation, and respite), and art area (for expressing emotions and ideas).

Children will have plenty of outdoor time every day in my private backyard. Children will be able to participate in a variety of outdoor activities including gardening, water play, riding bikes, and playing games.

At Manzano Family Child Care Wonderschool, I want to provide a loving home away from home.
