Our Teachers

Hello! I am Angela Conley, the founder of It Takes a Village Wonderschool. I was inspired to start my own program because I saw a need for high-quality care in my community. I have 7 years of experience working with young children.

I raised five wonderful children of my own and have two daughters who currently work with me in my program. I have experience working with children with developmental delays and give them the love, attention and education they need to thrive in school and beyond. Caring for children is my passion and I’m lucky I get to do what I love every day.

Philosophy

We hold that it is important for a child to have experiences by him/herself and with other children and adults in a safe, positive, accepting atmosphere where he/she can explore the limits of his environment and his/her individual abilities.

Our philosophy encompasses the belief that parents are vital in the Daycare, not just to maintain discipline, although that is a small part of the process, but for other reason as well. Some reason are:

  1. To develop a maximum amount of continuity between home and daycare so as to permit great satisfaction with the program for both parent and child;
  2. To provide a great source of information for provider and children (each parent is unique with a wealth of experience and information and should make an effort to share his/her talents in the daycare).
  3. Because each parent increases his/her own child’s self-esteem by considering the importance to take time to be involved with him/her and his/her friends in their special daycare program.

In addition, parents create the spirit and feeling of the daycare in general. If we have an impersonal feeling–“ It’s THEIR daycare’ rather than it’s our daycare”— then the daycare will be impersonal because it reflects the attitude of the people involved. If parents feel intimidation about bringing their children to daycare that becomes part of the subtle fiber of the daycare’s spirit also.

We’re committing to maintaining the positive, accepting atmosphere that is central to our philosophy.

Location

It Takes a Village Wonderschool is located in a charming, welcoming single family home in the Athens neighborhood.

We’ve designed our care environment with play and learning areas that allow children to explore various developmentally-appropriate activities based on their interests. Some of our favorite areas include a dramatic play area (for self-expression and empathy), block area (for gross motor skills and problem solving), and reading / cozy area (for literacy, relaxation, and respite).

Children will have some outdoor time every day in my spacious outdoor classroom. Children need space to run, jump, and move!

At It Takes a Village Wonderschool, I want to provide a loving home away from home.
