Kayla Blankenship, owner & teacher

Hi! I am Kayla Blankenship, owner of Kayla’s Kiddie Cove. I am a mother to 3 and have lived here on the Coast for the last 11 years. I run KKC completely on my own and treat it as my 4th baby! I was a personal nanny and worked in daycare centers for 4 years before opening my own daycare. I have been fingerprinted and FBI background checked, licensed and registered with the state of Oregon, hold a current Infant and Child CPR and First Aid Certificate, as well as a food handlers’ card, and have taken numerous child-related educational workshops over the years, including 400+ (and counting!) hours of college courses related to Early Childhood Education and Childhood Development. I am an experienced, qualified, and professional childcare provider who has centered my life around being not only a safe space for your children to spend their days but also an enriching, educational home away from home.

Philosophy

My mission is to provide a loving, quality, educational program for all of our children where they can grow socially, mentally, and educationally in the comforts of a space that feels like home. This is accomplished by giving extra effort to the basic fundamentals in preparation for formal schooling for my preschoolers, while providing a nurturing, safe, unique and creative environment for all children to grow and explore in. By having open communication between parents and caregiver, we will create a more cooperative and hands-on approach to education in all forms.

Location

We are located at the cross-over between Lewis and Clark and Astoria, right after the bridge. We are 5 minutes away from Lewis and Clark Elementary school and are right on the bus route for both Astor Elementary and LC Elementary, perfect for our after-school friends!

About our program

Kayla’s Kiddie Cove has been in operation since 2014. We are unique for several reasons: class size, curriculum, and environment. We do not currently take over 10 children at one time, as such, my curriculum is much more student based, and our children learn and grow at their own pace. Our classroom encompasses students ranging in ages 2 months old through 5 years and 5 years old 8 years old for my afterschool program, allowing children to grow at their own pace, mentoring and challenging each other. In our class, your child will continually be challenged at the rate they naturally learn at. I create custom, individualized curriculum focused on each child’s strengths, weaknesses, and interests. My students enter kindergarten prepared and excited for the journey that awaits them! 

We do themed weeks for holidays, class parties, student birthdays, field trips, lots of outdoor play, circle time, arts and crafts, weekend “Parent’s Night Out”, sleepover parties and so much more!

General open hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:30pm. However, we know that schedule does not accommodate every working parent’s needs. Options for Early Drop Offs, Late Pick Ups and Weekends are available outside of normal tuition rates.
