Our Teachers
Sarah Cobb, Director and Head Teacher
I have over 15 years of teaching experience. In the summer of 2020, my dreams of creating a play-based school came to fruition. My favorite part of my job is getting to spend my days with kids. I love their honesty and curiosity. They are constantly teaching me something new!

Philosophy
Learning will take place through exploration, play, art and nature. Our backyard will be our second classroom and we will spend about an equal amount of time outside and indoors. All teaching will be developmentally appropriate and we will meet the children where they are. “I believe all children are curious, kind and competent citizens with rights.” I also believe that we have a lot to learn from our children and with light guidance, they will discover and learn much from this world on their own and through interactions with each other. Our microschool is inspired by pieces of the Montessori, Waldorf and Emilia Reggio philosophies.
About our program
Our school follows the Oregon standards for reading and math but we do so in a way that is developmentally appropriate. We listen to our students and create units around what they are authentically interested in. Our teachers try to minimize transitions and allow plenty of time for play and inquiry. We spend a minimum of 2 1/2 hours outdoors every day.
