Our Teachers
Hello! I am Patricia Torres, the founder of Winnetka Wonderschool. I was inspired to start my own program because I saw a need for high-quality care in my community. I have 12 years of experience working with young children.
Philosophy
At Winnetka Wonderschool, we let children discover and explore so that they can create their own learning experiences that shape their identity and sense of independence.
Our promise is to contribute to your child’s life by supporting him/her through his/her development and by working together as a team with you, the parent(s).
We value working with families from different backgrounds. We enjoy having a diverse community at our child care that includes children of different learning styles and temperaments.
Location
You can spot Winnetka Wonderschool in the Winnetka neighborhood between two tall palm trees in a safe, quiet neighborhood.
We’ve thoughtfully designed our care environment with play and learning areas that allow children to explore various developmentally-appropriate activities based on their interests. Some of our favorite areas include a dramatic play space (for self-expression and empathy), a reading / cozy nook (for literacy, relaxation, and respite), and an art corner (for expressing emotions and ideas).
Children will have some outdoor time every day in my private backyard with toy cars, a mini jungle gym, and plenty of room to run, jump and play.
About our program
Our goal is to facilitate and stimulate the growth of our students in a comprehensive way. We do this by building a healthy sense of self-esteem, through activities that allow for the children to express themselves creatively.
We provide our students with developmentally-appropriate activities and materials. Our guidelines for developmentally appropriate practices are inspired by the National Association for Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and the Program for Infant and Toddler Care (PITC).
