Our Teachers

Hello! I am Keyla Bell, the founder of KCC ENRICHMENT Wonderschool. I was inspired to start my own program because I saw a need for high-quality care in my community. I have 22 years of experience working with young children.

We believe every child is capable of learning and learns best when given guidance, support, and the opportunity to learn. KCC is aware your peace of mind depends on knowing your child is receiving the highest level of nurturing away from you.

We encourage parents to be active participants in their child’s education. We are excited to begin this journey together with you and your family. Communication, fine/gross motor skills and problem solving skills will be emphasized. The infant and toddler curriculum is developmentally-based and age-appropriate, and updated as the child progresses to foster continued learning challenges.

Philosophy

At KCC ENRICHMENT Wonderschool, it is our mission to provide your child with a safe and nurturing environment that stimulates their physical, intellectual, social, and emotional growth. We recognize each child is a unique and capable individual, and through developmentally appropriate experiences, we help your child develop the foundations needed for lifelong learning.

Location

KCC ENRICHMENT Wonderschool is located in a warm, beautiful single family home in the Santa Monica.

We’ve designed our care environment with play and learning areas that allow children to explore various developmentally-appropriate activities based on their interests. Some of our favorite areas include art area (for expressing emotions and ideas), reading / cozy area (for literacy, relaxation, and respite), and dramatic play area (for self-expression and empathy).

Children will spend about half of their time outdoors at mix of both my private yard and local parks and playgrounds. Children need space to run, jump, and move!

At KCC ENRICHMENT Wonderschool, I want to provide an enriching environment where children feel free to explore and play.

About our program

KCC is a play-based child care. We believe every child is capable of learning and learns best when given support, and the opportunity to learn. Children are provided with a learning space where they can explore and learn through interactions with their teachers, peers, and educational materials.

All children receive guidance, nurturing, patience, safety, love and acceptance in our program. KCC believes every child is a unique individual and should be treated with respect and dignity. We proudly offer quality care to all children regardless of race, religion or special needs. We strive to provide a warm, nurturing atmosphere where each child can grow to appreciate his or her special talents.

Children learn best through active participation and free choice. Our child care is both structured enough for a child to feel safe in our environment and flexible enough to adapt to each child’s needs. Our curriculum is developmentally-based and age-appropriate, and updated as the child progresses to foster continued learning challenges.

We include music, group experiences, hands-on learning experiences, story time and free play activities (e.g. blocks, tricycles, housekeeping, puzzles, games, science and cooking). We have daily rest time, which is essential for the child’s relaxation and growth. Our program emphasizes communication, fine and gross motor skill development and problem solving skills. The infant and toddler curriculum is developmentally-based and age-appropriate, and updated as the child progresses to foster continued learning challenges.

Throughout the school day, we encourage each child to:

  • Grow and learn at their own natural pace
  • Develop positive self-esteem and self-awareness
  • Develop the self-confidence to explore and initiate learning
  • Learn to trust and get along with others
  • Express themselves through art, music or creative play
  • Develop the ability to cope with change, make decisions and solve problems
