Our Teachers

Hi, I am Aarti, the Director and Head Teacher of TLCC KIDS Wonderschool. I have 20 years of experience working with young children. I started my career working in a Montessori program in both the infant/toddler room and the preschool classroom. I have been running my program for 11 years!

I hold a university degree in Accounts as well as gearing towards my Bachelors in Early childhood Education. I have 44 units in ECE and am committed to ongoing professional development. I regularly participate in the SmartStart Training program provided by the city of San Jose, as well as trainings provided by First5. I have a Child Development Teacher Permit from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing and am progressing towards my Site Supervisor Permit. I continue to participate in training workshops and programs related to early childhood care, education, health, and nutrition. I am certified in Pediatric First Aid, Pediatric CPR, and Preventative Health Practices.

I enjoy working with children and celebrating their accomplishments. I believe in treating each child as a whole person and meet their custom needs to prepare them for Kinder Readiness! When I am not spending time in my program I love to dance, garden, hike, cook, and spend time with my two daughters.

Philosophy

At TLCC Kids, we believe in SEEDS - Sensitive, Educational, Engaging, Developmental, and Scientific ways to teach children. We treat each child as a whole person and focus on School Readiness, recognizing every child as a capable individual. Children lead the way in our program, where we nurture their unique abilities to help them grow into successful individuals. Our commitment includes providing a warm and loving relationship, a safe and clean environment, and abundant learning activities that promote development across physical, social-emotional, cognitive, and speech and language domains.

Location

TLCC Kids Wonderschool is located in a inviting, spacious single family home in the Norwood neighborhood. We’ve designed our care environment with play and learning areas that allow children to explore various developmentally-appropriate activities based on their interests.

Children will spend about half of their time outdoors in my private yard. Connecting with nature is vital to a child’s happiness and growth. I occasionally take children to visit local libraries to attend their storytimes as well.

At TLCC Kids Wonderschool, I want to provide an environment that supports the cognitive, social, and emotional growth of each child.

About our program

At TLCC we are confident that through our whole child approach, children will be ready for school. Each and every day we provide a variety of intentional play opportunities that allow children the chance to develop the necessary skills for school.

Some of the learning you will see includes:

  • Journals give children the chance to explore writing, drawing, and self-expression
  • Sensory activities like using spray bottles and squeezing sponges help children develop the hand strength required to hold a pencil
  • Story time develops critical thinking skills and important literacy skills
  • Circle time fosters a sense of community and provides an opportunity for communication and language development
  • Our outdoor climbing area gives children the chance to practice their coordination, develop their large motor muscles, and blow off steam
  • Conflict resolution strategies give children the skills they need to problem solve on their own

We believe in partnering with parents to support their child’s development. To promote this partnership we use tools like the ASQ and the DRDP to keep you updated on your child’s developmental progress.

We have two fully trained dogs at our house that are a wonderful addition to the program. Both are fully housebroken and have received their obedience certificates.

TLCC Kids embodies the following core values:

  • providing children with continuous learning opportunities based on each individual child’s needs
  • providing each child with opportunities to stimulate progress and growth
  • giving children activities to enhance their love of learning and maximize their talents and skills
  • guaranteeing an environment that is safe and secure where children, staff, and parents learn from each other in harmony and peace
  • embracing diversity by accepting and supporting individuals who have social, cultural, and religious differences through communication and appreciation
  • children grow and develop at a different pace. We use various assessments(DRDP, ASQ-SE, and ASQ-3) and screening (visual, hearing and dental) tools so that we can support each child with their individual needs.
