Our Teachers
I am Celia, and I have 14 years of experience running my own childcare program and even more as a mother. The name of my program, Ruby’s Friends, was inspired by my own daughter - my first ever “student” and the reason I knew I could make my life’s work about kids. I have over 20 units of early childhood education and am an active member of First 5 California, which has inspired my love of growing as an educator and helped me to better support the children in my program.
Philosophy
At Ruby’s Friends Wonderschool, we believe that when we focus on children now, it can impact their future. We are at our best when we work as a team with parents and family members in order to support development, and our space provides students numerous indoor and outdoor options to spark curiosity and fun.
Location
Located on the northside of the Mt. Pleasant neighborhood in San Jose, my single-family home is situated right off of the Story & White Rd intersection. In addition to my front yard, which offers a grassy space for children to play and a large driveway for children to race scooters or ride on safe bicycles, we enjoy ventures to the nearby Mt. Pleasant Park multiple times per week.
About our program
Creativity starts with kids. Our art area’s seemingly limitless materials cultivates a belief in ‘doing’ for students. They are given the chance to create, and we celebrate that process in the many projects that we do together. Families can expect to take home crafts that their children have proudly created during group activities.
Families are as important here as they are at home. We are a team at Ruby’s Friends, and there are many ways that we build partnership with parents. We participate in the Raising a Reader program, giving you the chance to build early literacy skills in your child.
This is your child’s foundation. Our daily circle time incorporates many different topics, including a daily story and opportunity for conversation and practice across a number of topics, including letters, numbers, and weather. Coming together as a class, we develop strong Spanish listening and speaking skills on a daily basis.
