Our Teachers
Hello! I am Deotina, the founder of Mind Builder Center. I was inspired to start my own program because it has always been my dream to design my own space where children can blossom and grow.
I previously worked in the world of electronics, but after my daughter was born my priorities changed, and I wanted to focus on spending quality time with her. I realized opening my own program would benefit me both personally and professionally, while also serving a need in my community. I obtained a small license in 2008, and due to high demand, expanded to a large license a year later. In 2018 I obtained my Child Development Teacher Permit.
Mind Builder Center is truly a family business. My husband is involved in the food and nutrition, cooking healthy meals for the kids (Mexican food, spaghetti, and meatballs, etc.). My daughter grew up in this program and occasionally provides assistance.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with family, karaoke, dancing, kickboxing, and being an active member of my church.
I am also an advocate for equity when it comes to the needs of the children and families of our community.
I look forward to meeting you and your family!

Philosophy
Mind Builder Center is committed to providing all children with or without disabilities with genuine love, authentic relationship, a safe, clean, and inclusive environment, nutritious food, and learning activities. These learning activities help children to develop in all the necessary areas to lead a successful life. We focus on physical, social-emotional, cognitive, and speech and language development.
Location
Mind Builder Center is located in a beautiful, welcoming single-family home in the East San Jose neighborhood (Between King Road and Tully Road, near Eastridge Mall).
We’ve designed our care environment with play and learning areas that allow children to explore various developmentally-appropriate activities based on their interests.
Children will spend about half of their time outdoors in my private yard. Connecting with nature is vital to a child’s happiness and growth.
At Mind Builder Center, I want to provide an enriching environment where children feel free to explore and play.
About our program
Mind Builder embodies the following core values:
- providing children with continuous learning opportunities based on each individual childs’ needs
- providing each child with opportunities to stimulate progress and growth
- giving children activities to enhance their love of learning and maximize their talents and skills
- guaranteeing an environment that is safe and secure where children, staff, and parents learn from each other in harmony and peace
- embracing diversity by accepting and supporting individuals who have social, cultural, and religious differences through communication and appreciation
- children grow and develop at a different pace. We use various assessments(DRDP, ASQ-SE, and ASQ-3) and screening (visual, hearing and dental) tools so that we can support each child with their individual needs
Mind Builder Center follows a theme-based curriculum. Using the letters of the alphabet as a jumping off point, we explore science, math, language, arts, and social-emotional learning.
For example, if we’re studying the “letter F” we may choose to study flowers. Explorations might include:
- counting flower petals
- flower-themed art activities
- flower-themed songs
- looking outside for flowers
- reading books about flowers
We consider our daily routine to be part of our curriculum, allowing children to explore in a safe and predictable environment. Children thrive with routine and predictability.
We are also committed to building relationships with parents and guardians to assure their children are in good hands. We look forward to partnering with you in your child’s development!
