Hello My name is Wei Xu, My background working in Childcare began in Shanghai, China. When I lived In Shanghai I was a Nanny taking care of 3 kids along with my own child at the time. Since then I enjoyed working with Kids, and found great joy in watching the children grow and learn together. I have always been a very warm, loving, caring person so working in childcare has always been a dream of mine. I am Fluent in Mandarin and only speak to the kids in Mandarin in order to help them pick up the language naturally. My son Yunyi Lu is fluent in English and is always around to help translate and communicate with parents if needed.
Philosophy
Playing is learning.
At Lemon Home Daycare, we believe that immersion in a project-based learning environment is the best way to teach young children new languages. By engaging in projects, children have the opportunity to experiment with Mandarin and explore another culture. Best of all, language acquisition unfolds naturally. We motivate children through activities designed to develop their social, cognitive, and linguistic proficiencies.
About our program
We are a play-based Mandarin-immersion preschool. Our students range from 11 months to 5 years old (potty training is not required). We maintain a 4:1 student-to-teacher ratio. We provide a healthy, organic lunch and two snacks during the school day.
Parent Involvement
We ask parents to maintain disciplinary methods consistent with our own. We also welcome parents, grandparents, and other relatives to visit and present prepared activities to our students. Generally, parents are not expected to stay beyond drop off or pick up unless previously arranged.
Our Approach to Discipline
We believe in using positivity and praise to foster healthy behaviors and a healthy learning environment. Our goals include teaching children self-control and respect for themselves and others. Our constructive techniques include redirection, anticipation, modeling, natural consequences, elimination of potential problems, and teaching children to resolve conflicts on their own in an appropriate manner.
