Our Teachers

Hi there! My name is Gaby Murillo, and I have been running my program since 2000. In that time, I have participated in various courses and have been ranked as a top program in the Santa Clara County Quality Matters program.

Before I worked in childcare, I worked with adults who were illiterate in my home country of Mexico. This helped me realize that I had a passion for teaching, but I believe that we need to help students get a good foundation instead of catching them up later in life. As a result, now I focus on the first five years because they are so important for development.

Philosophy

Gaby’s Creative Minds Daycare & Wonderschool offers hands-on learning using all senses to maximize the potential within each child. We offer an open environment where children of varying ages engage in developmentally appropriate activities. Our experienced staff is dedicated to making every child’s time full of love, fun, and most importantly wisdom. Our program was created around the premise that quality childcare should help a child feel comfortable - like they’re at home.

Our goal is ultimately to provide a loving environment where the intellectual and social development of each child is promoted in a positive and creative manner.

Location

Our program is located in a safe neighborhood right in the heart of South San Jose. Parents love that the childcare has its own entrance and we have devoted a section of our single-family home and all of our backyard to the children in our care. We are located minutes off of the 101 and near the intersection of Capitol and Monterey!

About our program

When you enroll here, you become part of our familia. In this program I treat each child like they are my own. Our staff meet the unique needs of your little one, and we get to know them through days, weeks, and years of supporting them in their earliest years.

We support your child’s self expression in all forms. Each day, children have ‘Journal Time’ where they record images and thoughts in pages of a book that we send home with them. The children share what is happening in their lives, what they like doing at school, and what happens in the stories that we read as a way to develop a strong command of language. For many of our children, this is their favorite time of the day as it is an opportunity for them to build their communication and conversation skills.

Our learning environment is always changing. While some things - like the natural wood furniture that we use - will remain the same, the items that children use during free play and choice time rotate alongside their interests. I am constantly adding new manipulatives and materials to our different learning spaces - whether it’s in our reading nook, to our math center, or in the dramatic play section.

We ensure that your child gets the foundation they need for continued education. At Gaby’s Creative Minds, we focus on the whole child. That means we develop socio-emotional skills alongside the academic foundation that students need when they are ready for Kindergarten. We communicate with parents constantly so that you know exactly how your little one is doing in our program.

If you would like to enroll, please submit an application. Please note that we require tours for all prospective families. Please do not submit an application if you have not visited the program.

4. Enroll

After reviewing your application, we’ll send an enrollment invitation. Upon accepting your invitation you’ll pay your enrollment fee, fill out enrollment documents and review our Parent Handbook.
