Our Teachers
My name is Daisy and I am originally from Peru. I worked there with children as a nanny beginning at 13 years of age and have continued to support children and their development since. While in Lima I had the opportunity to student education and there I worked as a teacher assistant in various private schools.
I opened my program here after arriving in California; I had 2 children and wanted to spend time with them but also knew that a high quality program would support their long term success. While I was a mom first, I turned experience into being a provider.
I see a need for care in my community; parents deserve to have many options and I am proud to be a choice here in East San Jose!
Philosophy
The most important thing to our work here at Daisy’s Bilingual Daycare is ensuring every child has healthy development in every aspect: emotionally, physically, and socially. We want every child to achieve their potential and set them on a path to become successful adults and to be self-confident.
We achieve this through an environment designed to be accessible to infants, toddlers, and small children. Our space includes learning areas separated by topics such as art, dramatic play, music, and science. Children can freely move from one space to another as their interests guide and support them.
We work to interact with children through a combination of structured and free play. For example, each day we have a guided circle time as well as outdoor play, where children are free to develop their gross motor skills and interact with each other.
Location
Our home is located at Story and King in San Jose, within easy access of 280, 101, and 680. We are just a few blocks away from Emma Prusch Farm Park and close to many local elementary, middle, and high schools.
I live in a single-family home with a large backyard that is covered in case of hot days. Children love the bright, airy space that I provide for them and families can easily park in my driveway for drop-off and pick-up.
About our program
The first thing you will notice when you enter my childcare is student artwork hanging across the entrance. We explore different learning themes through units, and each day our students engage in creative art projects that help them to develop language about these topics in both English and Spanish. Our art projects are a source of pride for students, who are able to see their creativity celebrated as we place their accomplishments for parents and peers to see!
Each day, students engage in a circle time that is filled with music, movement, and an exploration of academic foundations. We support students on their path to kindergarten by exploring their names and helping develop their sense of letters, numbers, colors, shapes, and aspects of the calendar. Circle time is also where we build our classroom community and the conversations we have here often inspire me to select different units or guide how I shift or change materials in our free choice areas.
All meals and snacks are provided by me and are made with fresh ingredients with no added sugars. All of our food is natural and I plan it according to the FDA’s recommendations for age.
