Our Teachers

Hello! I am Cynthia Smith, Director of OV’s Angels on Earth Wonderschool, a program I named in honor of my extraordinary grandmother, OV Smith. Her legacy of love, service, and community uplift continues to inspire everything we do. She taught me what it means to be a blessing to others, and that spirit lives at the heart of our work. Throughout my career, I’ve had the joy of supporting children of all ages and abilities. I hold a degree in Social Work with a focus on Early Childhood Development, and I’ve served families in various roles, including Parent Educator with Parents as Teachers. I’m also a proud mother of two adult children and a grandmother of two, which deepens my commitment to creating a nurturing, joyful space for every child and family we serve. I also earned an Associate Teacher Certificate in Early Childhood Education from UCLA, with Distinction, which reflects our dedication to both academic excellence and hands-on care. We believe deeply in continuing education as a way to grow alongside the children and families we serve. We hold certificates from the California Teaching Pyramid Framework, which strengthens our social-emotional skills in working with toddlers and preschoolers. We’ve also completed PITC (Program for Infant/Toddler Care) training, further enriching our understanding of responsive, relationship-based care. Ms. Morgan, our teacher, studied Early Childhood Education at OBU and West LA College, and has an Early Childhood Education Associate Teacher Certificate from UCLA, with Distinction. She brings a wealth of experience as an infant, toddler, and preschool teacher in child care centers across Texas and California. Her creativity, patience, and deep well of nurturing energy are already enriching our program in beautiful ways. We can’t wait to meet you and your family, and we’re honored to be part of your child’s early journey.

Hello Ms. Smith , Christian first day in school was today. He had a good day. I want to thank you for giving him a chance. Ms. Cynthia,  It is hard to say goodbye. From age six month, to age 3 and a half! We are so thankful for all that you, Ms. Morgan, Mr. Quinn, and the entire team have done for Blake. I never had a moment where I didn’t feel like he was safe or well cared for.  Blake is so knowledgeable beyond his peers and we have to thank you Ms. Cynthia, Ms. Morgan, and the team! This is a very good daycare! My daughter went here for a few months and I saw tremendous improvement in her speech, talking, eating habits, and overall growth as a toddler. She was also encouraged by the other bright toddlers there that she played with! I highly recommend this establishment and trust Cynthia and her daughter 100% with my daughter! They really love the children they look after! My daughter loves them!! Thank you for teaching and caring for my daughter so well!

Philosophy

The mission of OVs Angels on Earth Wonderschool is to provide a safe, nurturing, high quality and appropriate learning environment. We believe in fostering learning through play, and maintaining positive relationships with parents/caregivers and families.

Location

OV’s Angels on Earth Wonderschool is located in a welcoming, spacious single-family home on a quiet residential street in the Leimert Park neighborhood.

Children will have morning and afternoon outdoor time everyday in our private outdoor space, where sensory tables, tricycles, and climbing structures allow kids to run, move, and explore. We also enjoy a daily community walk when weather permits.

We began with a vision and a passion to provide quality, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate child care for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.

We were named in honor of my grandmother Ovarie “OV” Smith, who is our inspiration and our example of how to be a blessing in the community and beyond.

If you would like to enroll, please submit an application. Please note that we require tours for all prospective families. Please do not submit an application if you have not visited the program.

4. Enroll

After reviewing your application, we’ll send an enrollment invitation. Upon accepting your invitation you’ll pay your enrollment fee, fill out enrollment documents and review our Parent Handbook.
