Our Teachers

Hello! I am Esperanza Shearer, the founder of Happy Day Wonderschool. I was inspired to start my own program years ago because I was aware of the need for high quality child care in my community, and I am proud to have designed my own space where children can blossom and grow. I have 27 years of experience working with young children – and I am a mother myself!

My assistant, Eva, is an early childhood education teacher with over 23 years experience working with children from infants to five years of age, including an AA in Early Childhood Education. She has diverse experience in planning and implementing lesson plans to promote the physical, emotional, social and intellectual growth of children.

“I cannot say enough wonderful things about Happy Day Family Day Care.  Both of my boys went there when they were 4 months old to 5 years old.  The home is always clean and immaculate but childproof for kids to run around and play.  The outside playroom is stocked with lots of toys which are kept in great condition, and the yard and playground are always well maintained.   I’m always impressed at the condition of the house - both inside and out.  You wouldn’t think that this was a day care facility and that there are kids running in and out daily.  

The best part about Happy Day Family Day Care is Esperanza and Ana.  They are truly amazing.  They love the kids, and the kids love them.  Esperanza and Ana are always attentive to each child’s individual needs and take such great care of them.  The day is structured, with play time mixed in with reading time and activities/crafts time.  The snacks are always healthy, and my boys loved the lunches which are always homemade.  My boys are now 7 and 8 and still ask to visit Esperanza and Ana, so we do.  They’ve been more than just a day care for us; they’ve become our family as well.” - Diep S.

Philosophy

At Happy Day Wonderschool, we treat each child as our own. From our lovingly-prepared, nutritious meals each day, to weekly Yoga with Leslie, to our special classes with Mr. Bob the Music Man, we believe in the importance of nourishing not only the mind, but also the body and spirit! In our program, children will feel supported as they engage with new ideas and learnings!

Location

Happy Day Wonderschool is located in a bright, spacious single family home in the Westchester neighborhood. We are close to Playa Vista, LAX airport, and the 405/105 Freeways.

Our space transitions beautifully from indoor to outdoor. Children can move from the main house to the courtyard, where we eat our meals al fresco under the pergola, into our main learning space.

We’ve designed this care environment with play and learning areas that allow children to explore various developmentally-appropriate activities based on their interests. Outside, we have a beautiful, open yard with a slide, swings, and even a rock-climbing wall! We spend much of our day outdoors running, jumping and moving around in the grass and exploring in the shade of our bountiful orange tree.

At Happy Day Wonderschool, I want to provide an enriching environment where children feel free to explore and play.

If you would like to enroll, please submit an application at www.wonderschool.com/happy-day-wonderschool-3084/apply – Please note that we require tours for all prospective families. Please do not submit an application if you have not visited the program.

4. Enroll

After reviewing your application, we’ll send an enrollment invitation. Upon accepting your invitation you’ll pay your enrollment fee, fill out enrollment documents and review our Parent Handbook.
