Our Teachers

Katherine Sincuir, known to her students as Miss Kat, earned a Bachelor of Arts with departmental honors from the University of Oregon and is a Phi Beta Kappa alumna. She concentrated in Cultural Anthropology, Folklore, and Latinx Studies.

Born and raised in Miami, FL, Miss Kat possesses a rich multicultural background. She values the importance of cultural awareness and the significance of intersectionality. Fluent in both English and Spanish, she takes pride in her Guatemalan-American heritage.

With over 5 years of dedicated experience in the field of education, Miss Kat has contributed to the Springfield School District, instructed and supervised diverse summer camps, and served as a private tutor.

When interacting with her students, Miss Kat’s foremost objective is to meet each child at their current level of development. She guides her students in cultivating empathy and encourages kindness.

Philosophy

At River Cubs Dual Immersion Preschool (RCDI) we fully believe that the optimal development of children occurs through the implementation of precise guidance, purposeful play, and thoughtfully crafted open-ended questions that stimulate curiosity and foster discovery. We believe that children learn by example and thrive in environments with clear expectations. As we recognize that each child is unique, we take pride in our commitment to tailor individualized learning plans for each child.

At the heart of our philosophy is the unwavering belief that diversity should be not only acknowledged but celebrated. We aspire to instill in each child a deep appreciation for diversity, cultivating values that inspire admiration and respect. We strive to fill our student’s hearts with empathy and self awareness. Our mission extends beyond language immersion, encompassing the nurturing of moral values that mold our students into compassionate citizens, fully equipped to contribute kindness and respect in our society.

Location

River Cubs Dual Immersion Preschool is located close to Downtown Springfield. We are about three blocks away from Maple Elementary School. Our neighborhood is quiet and peaceful. We are equipped with a great outdoor fenced play area allowing our kiddos to run and let their wiggles out.

About our program

River Cubs Dual Immersion Preschool offers families a curriculum that encompasses both English and Spanish, designed to nurture bilingual fluency.

Our educational approach includes anti-bias and cultural immersion elements to cultivate empathy and self-awareness in our students. Within our developmentally appropriate learning environment, various stations are provided to enhance gross and fine motor skills.
