Our Teachers
This is me.
Dreams and goals have emerged during the Course of my life. Some became true and others were forgotten. I had a dream since I was little and that dream still remains. I have always pictured myself as a teacher. However, barriers spoiled my dreams in the past. Without a doubt, I am a persistent person, and someday I will become a teacher worthy of admiration. At the time I attended junior high school in Jalisco, Mexico, about thirty-three years ago, I admired a physical science teacher. My goal for the future was to become a teacher like her. However, my dreams had to pass to second place when I immigrated to the USA because finances were not very good in my house. In my last year of high school in Los Angles, California I had to drop out and start a full-time job instead. Later the same year, I received my high school diploma by finishing the only three classes I needed to graduate. I attended night and weekend classes because I had the credits and had already passed the SAT’s. That’s something I’ll never forget, and nobody will take away from me. I continued working to support the household expenses. After a couple of years, my only daughter was born. Then I started to work even harder. With two jobs at the same time, I was able to raise my daughter. The bad thing was that I didn’t have a lot of time to spend with her. On the other hand, that short amount of time was rich in quality. After fighting as a single mom, I moved here to Oregon. After working for a low wage in the field
planting pine trees and packing pears, I luckily got a job after I volunteered as a parent interviewer for the new Oregon Child Development Coalition OCDC) facility as a teacher assistant. In a short time, I got my two bilingual Child Devlopment Associates (CDA) Bilingual certificates for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers, and that opened many doors and a promotion in my job. Moreover, being surrounding by children was like sweet music to my ears. One of the best parts was that I learned how to positively guide my own daughter. A little later on, my life turned around in a positive way. I got married to a wonderful man. He helped me in so many ways. Accordingly, with his support I had time to devote to my daughter. Subsequently, we opened together the first certified day care among Hispanic day cares. At the same time, I also worked with the Job Council as a mentor for the other Hispanic providers; I also worked for Southern Oregon Public TV (a place of our own) as a trainer helper for the Latinas providers. Later I got my RCAN certificate as a trainer. Moreover, my dreams are still alive by taking two classes at the same time at RCC. I am also a participant in the program of QRS which is an Oregon Child Care Quality Indicators Program. Moreover, I received a four-star award. My first goal academically was to pursue my dream which is my Early Childhood Education degree (AAS). Furthermore, I achieved this goal in 2016. However, this will not stop here. I will move forward, and not surrender. These recognitions will give me wings to fly further away where I want to go, and my next goal is to get my master’s degree in early childhood education. When this happens, I will share my knowledge with the upcoming generation so they can have a successful life. I’m bilingual and in our community, there is a need for bilingual teachers so that Latino children will be successful and be able to attend universities like my daughter. Right now, I’m so proud of her. All her accomplishments give me the strengths to follow my dreams, the most important thing is to keep on working towards my dreams because they will eventually be achieved and become a reality. Thank you for your consideration by reading about part of my life. :)
Philosophy
At our early childcare facility, we believe that success is a journey of continuous effort and perseverance. Children learn to embrace challenges, make mistakes, and keep trying until they succeed. Our little place is where kids explore endless possibilities, nurture their imagination, evolve as critical thinkers, acquire and enhance skills, but above all, remain authentically themselves.
