Our Teachers

Shereen, Director and Head Teacher

In 1995, I began my studies in Child Development and while substitute teaching at Children’s All Day school. I graduated two years later with my Associate’s degree in Child Development and began my career at the Archdiocese Head Start program. I continued my studies and received my Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts with a concentration in Psychology. In 2006, I received my group family day care license and opened my home day care. I really enjoy having a group family day care! I’m able to give personalized care to the children and help them develop intellectually, socially, and emotionally.

Philosophy

The Upper West Side Playgroup is a New York State licensed program designed to respond to your child’s physical, emotional, and intellectual needs. It is a mixed-age program, allowing children to socialize with children of different stages of development.

We offer a warm, secure, and appropriately stimulating environment for children. All activities are planned with three considerations in mind: safety, exploration, and growth. The rhythm of the day includes circle time, independent time, creative art activities, music and movement, story time, and dramatic play.

Location

UWS Playgroup is located in a luxury building in a safe and clean environment. We have a beautiful playroom with lots of natural light. Our family child care is cozy and full of educational toys and books. Each child is provided with a comfortable mat for nap time. We offer supervised play time, nurturing caregivers, and engaging activities.
