Hello! My name is Sugeirys Peña, the founding director of Great Beginnings Wonderschool. I have over a decade working as a child care provider and even previously was an assistant at a program accredited by the National Association for Family Child Care. I am a proud mother of two and have obtained my CDA.
Philosophy
At Great Beginnings Wonderschool, we believe in putting love and patience into every interaction with the children. From there, we believe that the calm environment that we have crafted will help them develop socially, cognitively, and personally. Our focus on play gives children the chance to interact with one another and grow together.
Location
Our program is located in the heart of Washington Heights, near the Hudson Heights community in a building with a doorman and elevator. We take advantage of local parks for outside time, and sometimes take walks to local places in the community. Our program is located only 2 blocks from the 1 train’s 181 St stop and a quarter mile from the entrance to the A train’s 175th St station.
About our program
In our program, we believe in joy. I take pride in the fact that children are genuinely happy here! We celebrate their learning and a big part of Great Beginnings is the smiles you will find here.
We build a lot of language development and curriculum into story and circle time. Each day, students are communicating about books, singing songs, and hearing language used to describe a story or part of the world around them. This helps their development.
This is a Spanish immersion program. We spend most of our day in Spanish, which helps children build a strong foundation in their abilities to speak and listen.

If you would like to enroll, please submit an application here! – Please note that we require tours for all prospective families. Please do not submit an application if you have not visited the program.
4. Enroll
After reviewing your application, we’ll send an enrollment invitation. Upon accepting your invitation you’ll pay your enrollment fee, fill out enrollment documents and review our Parent Handbook.
