Our Teachers
Hello, my name is Angela Vargas and I am the founder of Angie’s Daycare & Wonderschool. I enjoy supporting children with their learning and development, and opened my own program because I liked the idea of being able to choose my own curriculum, activities, and lessons. I believe that in-home childcare gives us as directors a chance to really get to know your child, and you become part of my family! I know how hard families in this with work and it feels important for me to be able to give you peace of mind that your little one is safe and secure.
Philosophy
Here at Angie’s Daycare, we use a play-based philosophy to support each child. We teach child con cariño, so that they feel cared about and have the chance to grow and understand the world around them. We believe in building independence through children having the chance to explore and grow. As a bilingual program, we support language acquisition in English and Spanish at a young age when children can best learn both!
Location
Our program is located in a sunny, secure apartment in a building in the Lower East Side. Our outside time often happens at the nearby Seward Park, which is less than a block away. Our space is convenient for parents who work or live downtown, and we are accessible to the F, M, J, and Z lines through the nearby Delancey St. station and about 3 blocks from the B and D lines at Grand St.
About our program
Children have a lot of opportunity to work at a level that’s comfortable for them. We like to paint and get creative at Angie’s Daycare. As children grow older, they receive a journal where they draw every day.
We keep a record of what children do and how they progress through milestones. We know that children develop and grow at different rates, so we make sure to meet each child in our care where they are.
We believe in building independence. It is so exciting to watch a child develop themselves through our care! We watch as children go from passively being fed, for example, to serving themselves and meeting their own needs.
This is a Spanish bilingual program. Your child will have the opportunity to learn both languages from our staff members.
