Philosophy

At Eugenia’s Wonderschool, we believe that children grow, learn, and thrive by feeling safe, loved, and nurtured. We respect each other, learn to share, and most important, we immerse ourselves with the children in the program because we want to give them our undivided attention.

We are family – literally! And the kids are like our family too. This program is truly a family child care program because my whole family is involved. Both of my daughters play a huge role in the program and we believe that nurture is key to their development and success.

We teach children how to express themselves. We want to provide the children in our program with the opportunity to develop the skills and language to become expressive. If there is a conflict, we ask the children to talk to each other and explain why they’re upset and how the other child’s behavior impacted them. We facilitate these conversations when necessary but it’s our hope that your children will learn to share, deal with their emotions, and how to respect others.

We’re fully immersed in our program. This means that if the kids are on the floor finger painting or engaging in dramatic play, we’re right by their side doing it with them. Engagement with the kids in our program is really important because it ensures that we’re there to understand their needs (and of course, because we want to have fun with them too!).

Location

Eugenia’s Wonderschool is located in a warm, welcoming apartment in the Bushwick neighborhood.

We’ve designed our care environment with play and learning areas that allow children to explore various developmentally-appropriate activities based on their interests. Some of our favorite areas include dramatic play area (for self-expression and empathy), reading / cozy area (for literacy, relaxation, and respite), and block area (for gross motor skills and problem solving).

Children will have some outdoor time everyday at mix of both my private yard and local parks and playgrounds. Connecting with nature lets children gain deeper knowledge of themselves and the world.

At Eugenia’s Wonderschool, I want to provide an environment that supports the cognitive, social, and emotional growth of each child.
