Our Teachers

Hello! I am Maria Gutierrez, the founder of Bright Beginnings Wonderschool. I was inspired to start my own program because I have loved working with children since I was young. I have 20 years of experience working with young children.

My daughter, Sid, also helps me with communication (my English isn’t as strong as hers) and she plays an integral role in the success of my program. This means that she might help out with tours and communicating with English-speaking families. We know it’s important to you to communicate with your children’s teachers and we’re committed to doing so.

With the support of our two other teachers, we’re able to provide individualized support to the children in the program and ensure that they are safe and receive the best care possible.

Testimonials

“I love the program at Bright Beginnings Family Daycare because it is a program that not only shows children how to interact with others of their age but also shows them how to be disciplined. My daughter learned her colors, numbers and letters pretty well. I also like that they are extremely attentive and give each child the attention that they need. This program as prepared my daughter for her new journey in a new school for PREK.” - Analvi Tavarez

“My daughter has been with Bright Beginnings Family Day Care since she was about 5 months old. Maria and her team are great, super loving. I love that they are always teaching her something new. My daughter loves her food. They post the children’s pictures and activities around the day care and it warms my heart each time.” - Lisbel Tavarez

“My experience with Bright Beginnings has been amazing. The center provides a safe and clean space for the children. The meals served are nutritious. Maria Gutierrez goes above and beyond understanding the needs of each child. She is very attentive and accommodating. Parents can rest at ease knowing that their child is well at Bright Beginnings. I am very pleased thus far and have highly recommended this center to others.” - Cindy De La Cruz

Philosophy

At Bright Beginnings Wonderschool, we believe that children grow, learn, and thrive by feeling safe, loved, and nurtured. It is our goal to provide an environment that engages children with developmentally-appropriate activities and materials. In our program, children will feel empowered to follow their own interests in a safe space. We are a bilingual Spanish program which means that we play and learn in English and Spanish.

Location

Bright Beginnings Wonderschool is located in a welcoming, cozy apartment in the Williamsburg neighborhood.

We’ve designed our care environment with play and learning areas that allow children to explore various developmentally-appropriate activities based on their interests. Some of our favorite areas include block area (for gross motor skills and problem solving), art area (for expressing emotions and ideas), and reading / cozy area (for literacy, relaxation, and respite).

Children will have some outdoor time everyday at a local park or playground. Connecting with nature is vital to a child’s happiness and growth. Even if it’s too cold or rainy outside, we believe that it’s important to be outside– even if that means it’s just a walk around the block.

At Bright Beginnings Wonderschool, I want to provide an environment that supports the cognitive, social, and emotional growth of each child.
