Our Teachers

Hello! I am Juniamis Basilio, the founder and director of Andrea’s Wonderschool. I was inspired to start my own program because I saw a need for high-quality care in my community. I have 25 years of experience working with young children and have a CDA accreditation with a dual certification in Spanish.

My twin daughters, Sheila and Sarah, act as full time assistant teachers in the program. Sheila and Sarah are in the process of getting their CDA accreditation as well. We love running the school together and building a family business.

We also have two fabulous assistant teachers as part of our upstairs infant program (which includes my mother, seen here on the right!):

Philosophy

Welcomes to Andrea’s Wonderschool! We are a proud, family-oriented child care program that is run by 3 generations of women in our family.

In our program, we believe that children grow, learn, and thrive by feeling safe, loved, and nurtured. It is our goal to provide an active learning environment where children are engaged with developmentally-appropriate activities and materials. We encourage children to explore and learn more about their interests, try new things, and make friends through play. We always welcome our children to be creative and express themselves through a variety of art projects, games, and social interactions with each other and their teachers.

Location

Andrea’s Wonderschool is located in a welcoming, bright townhouse in the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn. With two licensed programs in our townhouse, we have designed our space to grow with your child and meet their needs at any stage of development.

Our upstairs space is designed for younger students with materials, toys, and learning areas more suitable for infants and younger toddlers. Our school area downstairs focuses to meet the needs of our toddler and preschool-aged students they grow. Our walls, as you can see in our photos, always contain student work as children explore our curriculum, learn about their community, and gain deeper understanding of their own interests.

Children will have some outdoor time everyday in our private yard and outdoor space. Our main focus at Andrea’s Wonderschool is to provide an environment that supports the cognitive, social, and emotional growth of each child.

3. Submit an Enrollment Application

If you would like to enroll, please submit an application at www.wonderschool.com/andrea-s-wonderschool-3114/apply – Please note that we require tours for all prospective families. Please do not submit an application if you have not visited the program.

4. Enroll

After reviewing your application, we’ll send an enrollment invitation. Upon accepting your invitation you’ll pay your enrollment fee, fill out enrollment documents and review our Parent Handbook.
