Our Teachers

Hello! I am Ingrid, the founder of A Magical Place Development. I was inspired to start my own early childhood program due to my passion for working with and teaching young minds. I have been working with children in home based Daycare for the last 11 years and have loved every minute of it.

I have a BA in Marketing and Finance, a Masters degree in Early Childhood Education and I am currently working towards a Doctorate in Education. My dissertation research focuses on play-based curriculum and its importance within early childhood classrooms and early intervention.

I have worked with WNET/PBS on facilitating workshops on the topic of screen time and its negative effects on children under 2. I am also a Professional Development Specialist (PDS) credential trainer through NYAEYC and provide training to center based and home based staff in Health and Safety, Child Development Associate (CDA) and numerous early childhood topics.  In addition, I also provide training and coaching to various EarlyLearn networks who service  to home based providers.

I am happily raising four children who range from 6 to 16 years of age.

Simply the best experience. Our toddler was not the easiest kid, and they worked with him one-on-one and now he is just excelling, very good with his emotions and language. Really incredible, their whole team is outstanding.

We absolutely love A Magical Place. My only request is some sort of official parent/teacher meeting and/or a parent's night where we get to visit the space and check in with the teachers.

We adore A Magical Place. We feel so lucky to have found it. Our son loves both the teachers and his classmates, and we've had such a terrific overall experience. We can't thank them enough.

We couldn't be more thankful for A Magical Place. Jisel and the rest of the teachers in the infant room are amazing, and our son has had such a fantastic experience there. They are diligent about [updates] with feedings, potties, and naps every day, and they share relevant information beyond that in a timely fashion. But most of all, there is such a warmth and happiness that radiates from there every day at drop-off and pick-up and it really feels like family. Our little guy loves it there and so do we.

A MAGICAL PLACE was amazing and we will sorely miss them. Ingrid makes sure the staff is friendly and warm and maintains a high level of excellence. We were sad to leave them when we moved away.

Philosophy

At A Magical Place, we believe that children grow, learn, and thrive by feeling safe, loved, and nurtured. It is our goal to provide an environment that engages children with developmentally-appropriate activities and materials. In our program, children will feel empowered to follow their own interests in a safe space.

My program follows a play-based philosophy. I believe that children learn social, cognitive, and emotional skills by exploring new experiences. My environment is responsive to the children in our care, and allows children’s own interests to help facilitate their learning and engagement.

At A Magical Place, we expose children to reading and STEM-based activities on a regular basis.

Location

We’re located in a brownstone right on the corner of Bushwick Ave and Dekalb Ave.
