Our Teachers
I have been a licensed family child care provider for over 16 years, including 12 years partnering closely with Head Start in a collaborative setting. I have held my Child Development Associate (CDA) credential for 16 years and am currently continuing my education in Early Childhood. I am also proud to be a 4-Star Parent Aware rated provider, reflecting my commitment to high-quality care and continuous growth. My experience has allowed me to support children with diverse developmental needs while building strong, lasting relationships with families and community partners.
Outside of childcare, I am a proud mom of four and stepmom of two, with children ranging from teenagers to their late-twenties. I love spending time outdoors, hiking, camping, and enjoying lake days with family and friends. Reading, gathering with loved ones, a good cup of coffee or tea, and yes, a little shopping, also bring me joy. My home and program reflect what I value most: connection, nature, laughter, and creating a place where children feel like they truly belong.

Philosophy
Our philosophy is rooted in connection, purposeful learning, and strong character development. We practice problem solving, emotion regulation, teamwork, structure, consistency, kindness, and love in our daily routines. Christian values guide how we treat one another—with respect, grace, and compassion—while creating a safe and nurturing environment where every child feels seen and valued.
We believe children learn best through hands-on experiences, meaningful play, and time spent outdoors exploring God’s creation. Our program blends thoughtful planning with flexibility, allowing us to respond to children’s individual needs and interests while still providing high-quality learning opportunities. Above all, we strive to help children grow in confidence, resilience, and joy
Location
We are in a quiet neighborhood in South side of Detroit Lake close to County Road 6 & 59 about 7-10 minutes from center of Detroit Lakes.
About our program
Lisa’s Little Rascals is more than a childcare program—it’s a small, relationship-centered community where children feel known, valued, and encouraged to grow. With over 16 years of experience, a 4-Star Parent Aware rating, and 12 years collaborating with Head Start, we combine professional early learning standards with the warmth of a home environment.
Our program is guided by the HighScope curriculum, which emphasizes active learning, hands-on exploration, and intentional teacher-child interactions. Children are encouraged to plan, do, and reflect—building independence, confidence, and strong problem-solving skills. We balance structured learning with flexibility, meeting children where they are while maintaining consistent routines and high-quality experiences.
Our large backyard serves as an extension of our classroom, and we spend generous time outdoors in every season. From nature exploration to caring for our backyard chickens, children learn responsibility, teamwork, and curiosity about the world around them. We celebrate milestones, birthdays, and seasonal traditions, and we value strong partnerships with families to create a true sense of community.

Admissions
First I ask some questions to make sure the basics of our program is a good fit: days, hours, tuition, openings, etc. Then I schedule a time with parents and child(ren) to view daycare and visit/interview.
