I am extremely happy my children are apart of the early childhood development center in Pontiac, the directors are extremely welcoming, the staff is very friendly and attentive to children, they are flexible and they do so much with the children. Seeing my daughter come home and can’t wait to return is a special feeling I would recommend any parent putting there children into this childcare center it has exceeded my expectations.

Philosophy

From the time a child is born, he or she is learning every waking moment. In fact, babies and toddlers are either learning or sleeping. EDCD is a faith-based child care center committed to enhancing literacy, numeracy, and skills development in our community, starting with our youngest members. We believe that equity in education is key to unlocking economic mobility and achieving social equality. Our philosophy revolves around recognizing the importance of early childhood education and the crucial role of families, teachers, and community programs in shaping a child’s life. By providing a high-quality learning environment and nurturing children’s innate curiosity, we aim to prepare them to become lifelong learners who can pursue their purpose with confidence and capability.

Location

We are conveniently situated just off of I-75, making our location easily accessible during your commute. We are located down the street from Walton Charter Academy and Notre Dame Preparatory School.

About our program

We aim to promote unity and cultural understanding through our language immersion program. By teaching non-English speaking children English and English-speaking children Spanish, we help children develop bilingual skills, enhance cognitive abilities, and foster a sense of community between the cultures.

We believe that children learn best through play and exploration. That’s why our center offers an evidenced based play-based program (HighScope) that encourages children to explore their surroundings and engage in open-ended play. Through play, children develop critical thinking skills, problem-solving abilities, and creativity - all essential for their overall development.

Our dedicated and trained staff are passionate about fostering a love for learning in every child. They create a warm and nurturing environment where children feel safe and supported, allowing them to thrive and reach their full potential.

We also understand the crucial role that parents play in fostering a love for reading and learning in their children. That’s why we actively involve parents in our program, encouraging them to create a home environment that supports and reinforces the literacy skills their child develops at our center.

By working together, we can ensure that children receive a consistent message about the importance of literacy and have ample opportunities to practice their skills in various settings.
