Our Teachers
Being a part of my children’s lives while they were in school was important to me, so I became a Lunch Supervisor (lunch mom), got involved with the school’s literacy program, and volunteered for many other events. I was a Senior Leader, Den Leader, Chartered Organization Representative, and the highest trained and senior member for the school’s Cub Scout Pack for five years. I am a member of the Association for Child Development, the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), and the National Association for Family Childcare(NAFCC). I was a teacher in the toddler room at a private Christian preschool and an assistant teacher in the Young 5’s class. I also taught the toddlers in Sunday School at Saginaw Wesleyan Church.
Philosophy
I aim to provide a safe and happy place for children to learn and grow in an environment that is an extension of home. Children thrive when provided with a safe, nurturing environment that encourages exploration and creativity. Children develop knowledge through play, discovery, and communication with others. I believe young children learn best through play at this age and benefit from a somewhat structured yet flexible schedule. Children will be taught to respect each other, adults, pets, and property. I will teach your child to communicate, negotiate, and problem-solve. The rest will happen if they can learn these skills. Each child is unique, with an individual pattern and timing of social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development. Children learn best when surrounded by caregivers who encourage them to think for themselves, make decisions, work toward solutions, and express ideas and feelings. If this is how you want your child to play and learn, this is the place for you!
