Our Teachers

Hello, I’m Yolonda, a dedicated mother of two and a passionate early childhood educator with over 15 years of experience. My journey in child care began within my own family, caring for relatives, and later expanded to supporting a home-based program. Over time, I took on roles as a secretary and an infant and toddler teacher at a child care center before following my passion and opening my own family child care program.

I have extensive experience working with infants and toddlers and previously served as the President of the Parent Policy Committee for Early Head Start. In this role, I strengthened my ability to build meaningful relationships with parents in the community, advocate for families, and collaborate on policies that directly impact children’s early learning experiences. This leadership experience deepened my understanding of family engagement and the importance of creating a supportive partnership between child care providers and parents.

In addition, my personal journey as a parent of a child with disabilities has given me firsthand experience working with Genesee Health System (GHS) and Early On programs. I understand the referral process and how to connect families with crucial early intervention services. Because of this, I am not only an advocate for my own child but also a resource for families navigating support systems for children with disabilities. I am committed to helping parents access the services and tools they need to ensure their child’s success.

At Yoyo’s Learning Center, I bring my knowledge, experience, and heart into everything I do. I am committed to providing a safe, loving, and enriching space where children feel valued, supported, and encouraged to grow. I look forward to partnering with families to offer the best care possible!

Philosophy

At Yoyo’s Learning Center, we believe that childhood is a time for discovery, growth, and joy. Our play-based program fosters creativity, independence, and a love for learning through hands-on experiences. We incorporate faith into our daily lives, teaching kindness, gratitude, and respect for others while nurturing each child’s spirit.

Inspired by Montessori principles, we encourage children to develop essential life skills by working with real materials in a thoughtfully prepared environment. Our goal is to cultivate independence, confidence, and a sense of responsibility from an early age.

We value community and inclusivity, creating a welcoming space where all families and family members feel supported and connected. Our program is designed to meet the needs of children of all abilities, ensuring that every child, regardless of their unique strengths or challenges, feels valued and has the opportunity to thrive.

At Yoyo’s Learning Center, we are more than just a child care program—we are a family, committed to helping children and their families learn and grow together.
