Our Teachers

Hello there! My name is Gladys Rocha and I am the proud director of Little Caterpillars Wonderschool! I am originally from Sunnyvale and love this area, having spent almost my entire life here.

While I have worked in Silicon Valley in some capacity for the past 20 years, originally earning my B.A. in Business, after having my son I realized that my calling was to be in a role as a nurturer. I believe there is nothing more fulfilling than working with children and seeing them grow and develop over time.

My mother is my assistant, and she will be in the program daily. This means our ratio is incredibly low and your child will be well taken care of as ratio is very low.

Gladys has been wonderful with facilitating our daughter's transition from her previous care to Little Caterpillars. At first, our daughter did not eat as she was apprehensive about a new environment. However, now she is Gladys' best eater, often asking for a second helping of Gladys' home cooked, organic meals! We are truly grateful for the personal care and concern Gladys shows for our little one.

Philosophy

At Little Caterpillars Wonderschool, we honor childhood through a curriculum that is play-based and child-focused. We believe that childhood is a special time where the foundations of one’s identity begin to take hold and where little ones are able to explore who they truly are. Every child is encouraged to develop a sense of independence, feel a sense of confidence, and understand that they are part of a community through collaborative activities that nurture the love that we feel for one another as we grow together! Just like caterpillars, we become beautiful butterflies!

Location

Nestled right near the border of Sunnyvale and Santa Clara, Little Caterpillars Wonderschool is less than 10 minutes from both 280 and 101. Just as convenient for families who live close by as those who work at Apple or Kaiser Santa Clara, we are excited to provide a loving home-away-from-home environment.

Our program is set up in a single-family home in a spacious, well-lit environment. Tucked into a neighborhood off El Camino Real, we have a fenced-in and covered backyard where children are able to play daily!

About our program

We seek to celebrate joyful moments. The best times in my program are those when a child tries a new food or masters a new skill. You can see the excitement in their eyes and expression, and I do my best to provide those moments for children in my care daily.

I believe that parents are truly partners. I know that you are entrusting me with your little one, sometimes who as the first person who has taken care of your child outside of your home. I will work with you to understand your family and make my own program feel like an extension of your home. We will work together to support your child’s development throughout their time at Little Caterpillars.

Nutritious meals are necessary to support brain development. I prepare all of the food in our program with organic fruits, vegetables, and grains as part of supporting healthy habits. Anything I cook for you child is what I would cook for my own son.

We balance time in English and Spanish to support linguistic growth. Whatever language your child speaks at home, at Little Caterpillars they will build the foundational skills necessary to comprehend and use both languages after they grow out of their time with us.
