Our Teachers

Hi families! My name is Vanessa and I am founder of The Salsbury Family Childcare. I have been in the childcare business my entire life starting with babysitting, teaching in a preschool in college, and now owning my own family childcare. My mother and I ran a program together for 14 years until she retired 4 years ago. I have a degree in Psychology with a minor in Developmental Psychology from UCLA. I am passionate about working with children and wouldn’t change it for the world! I have 2 wonderful teachers who have been here for 1-3 years. We love developing relationships with the children and their families and watching them learn and grow for many years (our first group of babies is now graduating from college!)

Philosophy

At Salsbury Family Childcare our goal is to provide a happy, safe environment where children are provided the opportunity to develop cognitively, emotionally, socially and physically. We believe that children learn experientially through the exploration of language and numbers, music and movement, science and nature, families and culture, art and drama. To this end, we provide a stimulating atmosphere through the use of both planned and emergent curriculum enacted by caring, professionally trained teachers. We welcome and appreciate parent involvement and participation in our program in an effort to form an open, supportive relationship between families, children and teachers.

Location

The Salsbury Family Childcare is located in a bright, welcoming single family home in the Cumberland South neighborhood.

Children will have outdoor time everyday either in my private yard or taking walks in the neighborhood and visiting the local park. Children need space to run, jump, and move!

At The Salsbury Family Childcare, I want to provide an enriching environment where children feel free to explore and play.
