Morena Fernandez - Director and Head Teacher
Hello! I am Morena Fernandez, the founder of Ositos (Little Bears) Wonderschool. I have been working in family child care for years. I initially was licensed for a large family child care in 1996. I have had programs in San Francisco, Fairfield and South San Francisco.
Originally from Nicaragua, I am a mother of 3 children and have always been passionate about early childhood education. I have continued my education at the City College of San Francisco and Fresno State University.
I was inspired to start my own program because I saw a need for high-quality care in my community. My program is a Spanish immersion and play based program for students of mixed ages and I am excited to encourage their curiosity.

Testimonials
“ We were really lucky to find Morena. They seriously are quality daycare!!! Why… A) The place is super clean, have new toys and activities for all babies and toddlers. B) They make the best homemade food. Believe me, I had a taste test. C) Every time I picked up my son, he was always clean. and so were the other children. D) Also provided a lot of art work and they compiled it like a book to take home. We had gotten one for mothers/fathers day and also Christmas. This also included pics of the kids. E) Very friendly providers which also extends out to the other families Ive met there, and whom I’ve kept in touch with as well. And better yet they teach the kids a second language! My son is now bi-lingual and teaches me Spanish.” - Rosie F.
Philosophy
At Ositos Wonderschool, we believe that children learn through hands-on exploration. It is through tactile experiences they will begin to understand the world around them. To promote better communication skills and prepare children for a global world, our program immerses students into a Spanish environment. Our home includes lot of outdoor space that will enable ample time outside and provide a great space for games and activities. We strive to provide a safe, loving, and nurturing community for all children.
Location
Ositos (Little Bears) Wonderschool is located in a bright, warm single-family home in the South San Francisco neighborhood.
We’ve designed our care environment with play and learning areas that allow children to explore various developmentally-appropriate activities based on their interests. Some of our favorite areas include art area (for expressing emotions and ideas), block area (for gross motor skills and problem-solving), and dramatic play area (for self-expression and empathy).
Children will have some outdoor time everyday at mix of both my private yard and local parks and playgrounds. Connecting with nature is vital to a child’s happiness and growth.
At Ositos (Little Bears) Wonderschool, I want to provide a loving home away from home.
