Our Teachers
Hello! I am Roció Diaz, the founder of Early Childhood Learning Wonderschool. I was inspired to start my own program because I saw a need for high-quality care in my community. I have 12 years of experience working with young children.
I run my program with my mother and an assistant teacher. We believe in having small ratios of providers to children in order to provide safety and loving care for each child.
Testimonials
“I cannot more highly recommend Early Childhood Learning. Over the past 3.5 years, Rocio has cared for both of my sons. One started at 18 months and the other at 6 months. Under her care my kids have grown into confident and curious little boys. The teachers and atmosphere at Early Childhood Learning are filled with warmth and genuine care for the kids. I always felt like my kids were receiving the best possible care and attention, with plenty of hugs and cuddles. In addition to the warmth of the school, the program itself is fantastic. Music, yoga, arts, books, fine motor skills, etc. I also so appreciated that Rocio fed my kids healthy meals and snacks. I never had to worry about their nutrition during the day. We are sad to have “graduated” from Early Childhood Learning. It was a very special experience for our family.” - Angela A.
“My niece went to Early Childhood Learning when she was 2 years old. She loved going to school everyday. The teachers are so warm and loving. There activities are creative and unique. You can tell their curriculum is well planned for the children. It’s definitely a fun, creative, and learning environment. It’s also very clean and organized. Rocio and her team definitely prepared my niece for school and she was definitely ready to transition to preschool. I recommend Early Childhood Learning to anyone who’s looking for more then just a daycare and more of a learning environment. This is a place where your child will definitely grow and learn.” - Ashley R.
“Our twins have been with Rocio at Early Childhood Learning for over 2 years, since they were infants. She and her team have provided a loving, nurturing environment for my kids to grow and thrive. Rocio is energetic and creative - always coming up with great ideas for the kids to learn through play. I am constantly amazed at the new skills my kids have - including counting in English and Spanish, using silverware, identifying letters colors, animals, etc. I attribute all of that to Rocio and her supportive team. I always felt comfortable dropping my kids off each morning because they happily ran to the door to collect their morning hugs. I love receiving occasional text messages with photos of my kids engaged in their activities. I cannot recommend Rocio and Early Childhood Learning enough.” - Caroline V.
Philosophy
I believe that as a childcare provider, it is my responsibility to not only care for your children, but to nurture their physical, social/emotional, creative and cognitive development, and to motivate them to understand themselves and others. We give children time to discover, space to imagine and the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities in their everyday play.
Here are a few well-recognized facts about play:
- Play is the key element of learning for preschool-age children.
- Imaginary play holds a rich potential for promoting children’s cognitive, linguistic, social and physical development. Early Childhood Learning views play as the basis of our learning program.
- When activities are interesting and important to the child, they are eager to learn new vocabulary, physical skills, social behaviors, etc. We learn by doing, creating- Playing!
Observing children’s spontaneous play is a window into their ideas and feelings about the world as such, it is a rich source of ideas for activity planning.
Understanding the developmental needs of various age groups, our daily activities allow all children to be engaged. I have learned that music can bridge gaps, making circle time fun and age-appropriate for all levels. Helping to develop creativity in children is not always product orientated. Playing with building blocks, play dough, sensory tables, and other media are all forms of creative expression and/or art. Dramatic play, language arts, science, and math activities, as well as outdoor play, are all a part of the program. We welcome you and your family to Early Childhood Learning Family Child Care and look forward to growing together.
Location
Early Childhood Learning Wonderschool is located in a welcoming, beautiful single family home in the Santa Monica neighborhood.
We’ve designed our care environment with play and learning areas that allow children to explore various developmentally-appropriate activities based on their interests. Some of our favorite areas include a block area (for gross motor skills and problem solving), dramatic play area (for self-expression and empathy), and manipulatives and math area (for fine motor skills and beginning math concepts).
Children will have some outdoor time every day in my spacious outdoor classroom. Children need space to run, jump, and move!
At Early Childhood Learning Wonderschool, I want to provide a loving home away from home.
