Hello! I am Johanna Jeffel, the founder of Kid’s Imagination. I was inspired to start my own program because it has always been my dream to design my own space where children can blossom and grow. I have 20 years of experience working with young children and have been licensed for over 10 years.
Originally from Nicaragua, I have made my program bilingual to encourage the children to speak and learn in Spanish. Kid’s Imagination is also a mixed age program and we have activities for kids of all ages.

Testimonials
“My daughter has been attending Kid’s Imagination since she was 6 months old and I cannot be more grateful to have found this gem. The environment is welcoming, warm, and clean! Ms Johanna treats my daughter like family, feeds her home cooked meals, and keeps her engaged with learning new things every day. I’m amazed that she can say/understand words in Spanish already. I would definitely recommend this daycare, without hesitation to anyone.” - Melissa Lane
Philosophy
At Kid’s Imagination, we use Creative Curriculum, a research-based, high-quality curriculum that’s designed specifically for the unique family child care setting. Creative Curriculum focuses on providing nurturing, intentional, and responsive experiences that are individualized for each child.
We are a bilingual program – daily care and activities will be provided in both Spanish and English. Learning a second language at a young age encourages your child’s intellectual and social development.
Location
Kid’s Imagination is located in a warm, inviting single family home in the San Bruno neighborhood.
We’ve designed our care environment with play and learning areas that allow children to explore various developmentally-appropriate activities based on their interests. Some of our favorite areas include reading / cozy area (for literacy, relaxation, and respite), manipulatives and math area (for fine motor skills and beginning math concepts), and nature area (for discovering nature and science concepts).
The children spend about half the day outdoors in our private yard. Connecting with nature is vital to a child’s happiness and growth. In our yard, we have slides, swings, a playhouse, and bikes. We’re currently building a water wall as well. Going outside is the children’s favorite part of the day.
At Kid’s Imagination, we want to provide a loving home away from home.
About our program
We use child-centered learning to prepare our children for kindergarten and a life full of curiosity and exploration. Parents are impressed with the hard and soft skills children acquire during our program. We let the children show us their limits by encouraging them to try new things. For example, we encourage them to tie their shoe laces, write their names, tell time, do basic addition, and more.
If a child loves something, we acknowledge it and pursue it. For example, when a child was interested in dinosaurs, we taught him the names and characteristics of the different types. Some of the girls were interested in flowers so we started gardening with them. Our limit is wherever the kid want us to go.
Kid’s Imagination kids are ready for kindergarten by the time they go to preschool. They work on counting and expanding their vocabulary; we teach them practical skills to allow for more independence, like changing their clothes, make their bed, and folding. We include them in everything we do, like baking and food prep. Parents love seeing their kids wanting to help more at home as a result.
