Our Teachers

Hi families! My name is Sima and I am the founder of Little Panda’s Wonderschool. We are so thrilled to have open our family run business and would like to welcome you to the family. My mom is the primary caretaker in our program and my sister and I support as well. We are very family oriented!

Our family is originally from Afghanistan and we are excited to incorporate our native language into our program. As a family, we grew up in a literacy rich environment. We all love to read and plan to incorporate this into our learning environment. In our free time we love to tell old folk stories from our country, go to the park for bbqs and exercise.

Testimonials

Amazing program. The owner is extremely dedicated and the environment is clean. I left my child here but I ended up moving to the bay area and I was so sad to have to pull my child out of this program! The provider is so kind to children and takes great care of them, as if it is their own kids. They also educate the young kids and prepare them for preschool. The room is beautiful! My kid loved the toys! I would highly recommend leaving your kids here. - Sarah Malone

Philosophy

At Little Panda’s Wonderschool, we believe in supporting the growth of each individual child. Every child is given the space to develop a sense of self through a structured environment that meets their individual needs. Your child will be warmly welcomed to our space each day and move through a range of activities and free play that encourages their ability to express their interests and create relationships with us and each other.

Location

Little Panda’s Wonderschool is located in a beautiful, spacious single family home in the Meadowview neighborhood.

Children will have over an hour of outdoor time a day. This will include play with hula hoops, bouncy balls, swimming in kiddie pool and running through sprinklers. We believe that fresh air daily is so important for development and growth!

About our program

Food

We plan to cook the same food for the children as we eat as a family. This may include traditional Afghani food. For the most part, we eat a primarily vegetarian diet but can accomadate the needs and desires of different children.

Bilingual Program

Language is how children connect with people, build relationships, and increase self-esteem. Children from all language backgrounds will flourish in a bilingual program with caring teachers who will allow them to experiment, make decisions, take risks, learn from their mistakes and solve problems in both Afghani and English.

Cognitive benefits of bilingual and language immersion early care

  • Children who attend bilingual preschool have a better ability to monitor their immediate environment compared to monolinguals. They exhibit more mental flexibility and a stronger ability to switch between tasks (also known as ‘working memory’)
  • Children who attend bilingual preschool show increased self-regulation skills
  • Early and consistent bilingualism has been shown to delay the onset of dementia and Alzheimer’s
  • Focus on proficiency in both languages to increase executive functioning, academic success, and lifelong learning
  • Language acquisition and proficiency is developed through exploratory lessons, story time, activities, drama, arts and crafts, cooking activities, and much more
  • Children and teachers converse, share experiences, and recognize that language and conversations are central
  • Play-based learning in a rich learning environment that incorporates children’s ideas and interests, offers a variety of open-ended experiences, and utilizes indoor and outdoor areas to facilitate play and learning
  • Each child’s individual needs and interests are recognized to offer meaningful and nurturing interactions

You can learn more about the benefits of language immersion for young learners on the Wonderschool blog.
