Our Teachers
Hi, my name is Rebecca Edwards, and I am the owner and teacher at Growing Minds Preschool. I am so pleased to have the opportunity to teach your child and get to know your family!
I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and have completed several early childhood development courses. I have worked in the educational field for more than 12 years, serving in various roles including Kindergarten assistant teacher, Preschool assistant teacher, long-term substitute Preschool teacher, private tutor, college resource assistant teacher, and most recently, a Kindergarten co-teacher.
I truly enjoy working with children—teaching them, watching them grow and develop, and building meaningful connections along the way. I am also a mom of three: an 8th grader, a 5th grader, and a 3rd grader. In my free time, I love going to the beach, playing sports, walking local trails, and spending time with my family.
Philosophy
At Growing Minds Preschool, we are committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment where children can learn, play, and grow. We believe in fostering kindness and respect in all interactions among our students, teachers, and families. Our program is designed to prepare children for school through developmentally appropriate activities and play-based learning. We prioritize the well-being and happiness of each child in our care.
Location
We are located in North Redondo Beach near the cross streets of Aviation Blvd and Artesia Blvd. (Bordering Manhattan Beach and near Hermosa Beach)
About our program
At Growing Minds, we offer a warm and loving environment where children feel safe, welcomed, and supported. Our preschool operates from a cozy front house with a fenced-in yard in the wonderful community of North Redondo Beach. Students enjoy the engaging feel of a classroom paired with the comfort of a home-like setting.
Our program reflects elements of the Reggio Emilia approach, encouraging curiosity, exploration, and hands-on learning. We also incorporate foundational skills such as independence, healthy self-esteem, emergent writing, letter–sound recognition, and age-appropriate math. Daily activities include socialization with peers, dramatic play, problem-solving practice, language development, art, story time, and fun themed lessons throughout the year—along with plenty of outdoor play.
