Our Teachers

Hello! I am Senayt Gaim, the founder of Zahara’s Wonderschool. I was inspired to start my own program because it has always been my dream to design my own space where children can blossom and grow. I have 17 years of experience as a teacher and working with young children.💞

Philosophy

At Zahara’s Wonderschool, we believe that children grow, learn, and thrive by feeling safe, loved, and nurtured. It is our goal to provide an environment that helps each child to feel confident and capable. In our program, children will feel empowered to follow their own interests in a safe space. Our programs offers multi-lingual educational options if families are interested, including Spanish, Mandarin, and Amharic.

As many schools remain closed and remote learning plans have developed, we offer learning pods to help support families. We offer tutoring help (and Wifi for the online classes), alongside social interaction. We follow strict covid guidelines and keep classroom numbers under 8 kids.

Location

Senayt’s Wonderschool is located in a spacious, welcoming home in the Crenshaw District.

We’ve designed our care environment with play and learning areas that allow children to explore various developmentally-appropriate activities based on their interests. Some of our favorite areas include art area (for expressing emotions and ideas), nature area (for discovering nature and science concepts), and reading / cozy area (for literacy, relaxation, and respite).

Children will spend about half of their time outdoors at mix of both my private yard and local parks and playgrounds. Connecting with nature lets children gain deeper knowledge of themselves and the world.

At Senayt’s Wonderschool, I want to provide a loving home away from home.

About our program

We want to primarily focus on creating a gentle, and loving atmosphere for the child to evolve into a powerful self-sufficient individual. A child, who’s into understanding personal desires and passions, while also learning how to take on personal responsibility for one’s own emotions. We want to encourage love, respect and creativity.

Come see what makes Zahara’s Wonderschool unique. If we are currently hosting tours, you can request or schedule a tour at the top of this page. If we are not currently hosting tours, you’ll see a “Request Info” button at the top of this page; if you submit your information using this button, we will notify you when we start host tours again in the future.

3. Submit an Enrollment Application

If you would like to enroll, please submit an application! Note: we encourage you to schedule a tour first.

4. Enroll

After reviewing your application, we’ll send an enrollment invitation. Upon accepting your invitation you’ll pay your enrollment fee, fill out enrollment documents and review our Parent Handbook.
