Cheyenne Mendiola, Director/Founder
My name is Cheyenne Mendiola, and I am absolutely delighted to extend a warm welcome to you as a member of our esteemed Learning Tree Outdoor Preschool community. It brings me great joy to introduce myself and share a glimpse into my educational background and personal journey. My higher education journey started at East Los Angeles College, where I had the opportunity to compete in the esteemed Speech and Debate team. It was during this time that I discovered my passion for effective communication and the power it holds in shaping young minds. Driven by this passion, I diligently pursued my academic pursuits, resulting in the successful completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Child Development with a specialization in atypical development from California State University, Los Angeles in 2019. Throughout my educational journey, I have had the privilege of accumulating multiple years of invaluable experience working with young children. My professional repertoire encompasses various roles, including that of a residential camp counselor, a tutor and special education preschool teacher, and even an outdoor preschool teacher. Each unique position has enriched my understanding of children and their individual needs, fueling my unwavering commitment to their growth and development. As an ardent advocate for child-centered education, I firmly believe in empowering children to actively shape their own learning experiences. In my philosophy, children should not be confined to knowledge solely imparted by their teachers but should also be encouraged to learn from the invaluable peer experiences that surround them. It is this belief that drives me to create an environment where children can truly thrive and become the architects of their own learning journeys. Education has always played a vital role in my life, instilled in me from an early age. Also, performing arts have been a significant part of my life, nurturing my creativity and providing a unique perspective that I bring to the realm of education. Growing up, I immersed myself in various artistic endeavors, such as dancing hula, acting in theatre and musical productions, and singing in the choir. These experiences have further shaped my teaching style, infusing it with a vibrant and dynamic energy that captures the hearts and minds of young learners. Beyond my experience as an outdoor preschool teacher, I possess a wealth of outdoor expertise gained through my role as a residential camp counselor. During this time, I wholeheartedly encouraged my campers to embrace the natural wonders of the world around them
When not working, I enjoy playing guitar, crafting, watching movies, cooking, and going to museums, theme parks and Dodger games.

Testimonials
“Both of our children have been with Ms Cheyenne for over two years. We love it so much and it feels like family for both parents and kiddos. We are so grateful that our kids are able to spend their days out in nature learning through exploration. The teachers are warm and caring, very communicative, and I see the value in my children’s growing sense of independence, verbal skills and social interactions. Couldn’t recommend it more.”
- Anna
“My daughter attends this school and has thrived under Cheyenne and Mayas care and direction. They provide child led curriculum that is both fun and expansive. I highly recommend you check them out.”
- Sara
“Teacher Cheyenne was our son’s first teacher and she was truly so magical that our son still talks about her to this day. She strikes the right balance between instilling a sense of curiosity and structure, and of course has creative ways for the kids to immerse themselves in the nature around them. A wonderful experience, through and through.”
- Kayleigh
“Our daughter was so happy at Learning Tree Outdoor Preschool ! She is excited every morning for “nature school day” (she does a little dance and chant) and comes home with stories about their nature walk adventures and the animals they see. The teachers are excellent – very sweet, nurturing, engaging, and communicate well with the parents.”
