Our Teachers

Hello! I am Secela, the founder of Kids Kan LeaRNing Academy’s Wonderschool. I was inspired to start my own program because it has always been my dream to design my own space where children can grow, learn and play in a nurturing environment.

As a mother of adult children, a grandmother and a Registered Nurse for more than 30 years having worked with babies and children in the “Well Baby” and Children’s clinic and the Pediatric Oncology outpatient setting, I recognize that each child has his own unique developmental paradigm.

My years of Registered Nursing assessment skills will allow me to better assist my parents with gathering information related to their child’s developmental performance and overall general health status. Caring for children has always been an enjoyable part of my lifes work. My assistants and I look forward to partnering with you to aid in the complex process of discovering your child’s gifts and talents.

Philosophy

At Kid’s Kan LeaRNing Academy Wonderschool, our goal is to introduce our children to a relaxed, happy, safe, nurturing and educational environment. Our childcare strives to meet the developmental needs of children ages 0-12 years of age emotionally, socially, physically and intellectually through play and exploration by facilitating them in developing skills that are relevant and appropriate at this point in their lives whereby building the foundation for future success.

Location

Kids Kan LeaRNing Academy Wonderschool is located in a bright, spacious single family home in Los Angeles. Our program is centrally located, near the 105 and 110 freeways, close to LAX airport, the new Rams Stadium and the Forum. We are on a residential, tree lined, quiet street with easy parking close to schools and parks.

About our program

My goal is to assist “you”, the parent(s) to understand your child’s unique set of traits and interest and provide support, encouragement and structure to assist the child to progress successfully through the various stages of child development. My assistants and I are committed to working within each child’s comfort zone to ensure optimum individualized growth.

We encourage our children and parents to keep an open line of communication with us. Parents please feel free to discuss any concerns that you may have regarding your child’s care.

Child Safety

At Kid’s Kan Learning Academy, our number one priority is your child’s safety. Indoor and outdoor safety is one of our biggest concerns. Just like adults, children need environments that help them feel secure. Our children depend on us to meet their basic needs for food, water, shelter, and clothing. They also depend on us to protect them from harm. Feeling safe allows our children to build relationships, become confident, and meet their potential.

Infant Care

We provide a safe and nurturing ‘home away from home”, where infants can explore and make new discoveries with warm interactions. We focus on keeping our infants happy and engaged. We maintain feeding, nap and activity schedules. Our sleep room is enhanced with soft soothing music.

Toddler Care

Our toddlers are offered a variety of opportunities to explore their world through play, arts and crafts, sensory activities and sing-a-longs. Gross motor and social skills are developed through both structured and unstructured play. Our play modalities include an introduction to educational elements.

Pre- Kindergarten Enrichment

We offer a pre-kindergarten curriculum packed with educational games and activities. We teach pre-reading skills, phonemic awareness, basic math concepts, basic science explorations, letter, color, number and sound recognition.

School Age Children

We offer a safe supportive environment for our highly active school age child to build upon a continuum of dvelomental and learning fundamentals. We promote age appropriate independent activities under the supervision of an attentive childcare provider.

If you would like to enroll, please submit an application at www.wonderschool.com/kids-kan-lea-r-ning-academy-wonderschool-4475/apply – Please note that we require tours for all prospective families. Please do not submit an application if you have not visited the program.

4. Enroll

After reviewing your application, we’ll send an enrollment invitation. Upon accepting your invitation you’ll pay your enrollment fee, fill out enrollment documents and review our Parent Handbook.
