Greetings!
My name is Alecia Coutee and I am the Director of Ready, Set & Grow! I was inspired to open up my family childcare business because of the desire of wanting to provide the highest quality care and education for young children that is child-centered, holistic and value children as individuals. I want to provide an environment that focus on safety and nurturing the unique identities and personalities of all young children.
Along with being a mother of two, I have close to 25 years of experience in the educational field. Throughout my career, I have had the pleasure to work with families from many cultural backgrounds. I have worked as an assistant teacher, lead teacher, site supervisor and program director. I have earned three degrees throughout my career: Associate of Arts Degree in Child Development, Bachelor of Science Degree in Child Development and Master of Arts Degree in Early Education.
I believe children learn best when they are in a positive, nurturing, well- supervised environment which allows them to make choices and encourages them to accept both the benefits and consequences of their choices. I believe children should be in an environment that encourages risk-taking, exploration, and cooperation with peers and caregivers. Along with an inviting environment that includes materials, resources, and age-appropriate activities, children will be able to strengthen their social, emotional, cognitive, language and physical skills which gives them the opportunity to participate and succeed.

Philosophy
It is the philosophy of Ready, Set & Grow! that children be encouraged to grow and learn by providing a foundation of developmentally appropriate experiences. We acknowledge that parents are the child’s first teachers and believe that children learn best when parents and teachers work together to enhance the child’s learning and development. We believe that all children are individuals and learn best through their experience with the outside world as they have meaningful play and that play encourages curiosity, exploration, discovery and problem-solving skills which allows children’s growth and development of positive self-image.
Our play-based, High Scope curriculum, supports the social, emotional, cognitive, language, and physical developmental levels. By taking the High Scope curriculum approach to early learning, children will be introduced to activities that include age-appropriate materials that will help with their natural curiosity and growth. Each day children will participate in learning experiences in the following areas:
-Literacy: reading stories, critical thinking and talking, fine motor development
-Math, science and technology: math counting, math vocabulary and numbers, biology and earth science, computers and problem solving skills.
-Art, music and drama
-Social/Emotional development: respect, honesty, caring and sharing, taking turns, responsibility and self respect.
-Conflict resolution: positive interactions and socialization, strategies to deal with conflict
-Heath, well-being and fitness: active sport games, nutrition
-Housekeeping: dramatic play
-Manipulatives Area
-Block Building
