Our Teachers

Hi, I am Carla Hicks, founder and director of Early Stages Wonderschool! I was inspired to start my program when I was pregnant with my first child and wanted an opportunity to stay home and care for him. Eight children, thirteen grandchildren, and two great grandchildren later, I’m still happily running my program! It’s been 25 years. I love being a mother and working with children. I can’t wait to meet you and your family!

Philosophy

Early Stages Wonderschool is a childcare program built on love and respect for each individual child. We have built a true home away from home where children are supported to reach their full potential.

Location

Early Stages Wonderschool is located in a warm, spacious single family home in the Carson.

We are a two minute drive from the 110 freeway and five minutes from the 405.

Children have daily outdoor time in our large yard.

About our program

We are so excited to welcome you to Early Stages Wonderschool! We have spent a lot of time creating a playful program for your little ones.

At Early Stages Wonderschool we value:

  • Community– we strive to create a sense of family and belonging, so that each child knows they are loved and appreciated.
  • Play– whether it’s dress up, race cars, karaoke, outdoor play, or story time, children are given many opportunities to explore the world.
  • Parent communication– we will keep you updated on your child’s day over text message.
  • One-on-one relationships– it’s important that we have the chance to get to know each child on an individual level.
  • Social-Emotional Learning– we support children in learning conflict resolution, independence, and kindness.

We serve healthy meals and snacks throughout the day. Sample menus include:

  • Breakfast: oatmeal, fruit, whole wheat bread, milk
  • Lunch: sausages, whole wheat spaghetti
  • Dinner: blackeyed peas and brown rice
  • Snacks: fruits, veggies, protein

We are happy to accommodate your child’s dietary restrictions.

We have three friendly Maltese dogs in our home. During the day they spend time in the backyard away from the children. They are up-to-date on all of their shots.
