Our Teachers
Hello! My name is Yilien, and I’m honored to be leading our program. As a former emergency room nurse, a mother of three, and an active board member at a nature-based school, I bring a deep love for nature and a commitment to nurturing children’s growth, curiosity, and well-being.
As a native Spanish speaker, I believe in the lifelong benefits of bilingual education and am passionate about integrating Spanish naturally into our daily classroom experiences.
My approach is rooted in child-led learning - honoring each child’s voice, interests, and pace. I believe that nature is one of our greatest teachers, and I strive to create a space where children can explore the outdoors, ask questions freely, and feel truly seen.
I’m excited to walk alongside your family in this meaningful chapter of early learning.
Philosophy
At the heart of our preschool is a deep respect for childhood as a unique and powerful time of discovery, wonder, and growth. We believe children are capable, curious individuals who thrive when their learning is led by their own interests and supported by meaningful relationships and rich environments.
Language is a key part of how we connect with others and make sense of the world. Our program fully immerses our children in the Spanish language, exposing the beauty and benefits of a second language from an early age.
Guided by the belief that nature is not just a backdrop, but an essential teacher. Through regular outdoor exploration, children develop resilience, creativity, and a lasting connection to the natural world.
Rooted in child-led learning, our approach encourages curiosity, play, and critical thinking. We foster a caring and inclusive community where children feel safe, seen, and empowered.
With a foundation built on empathy, respect, and a whole-child perspective, we aim to nurture lifelong learners who feel confident, capable, and connected.
About our program
Spanish Language Immersion: We weave Spanish naturally into our daily rhythm through songs, stories, conversation, and play. Children are gently immersed in the language, picking up vocabulary and cultural insights in joyful, organic ways.
Nature-Inspired Learning: We strive for learning to happen outdoors (our theory is there’s no bad weather just clothing). Children have the freedom to run, build, observe, and connect with the natural world. Whether we’re investigating bugs, gardening, collecting leaves, or simply enjoying a snack under a tree, nature is our co-teacher.
Child-Led Curriculum: We follow the interests of the children, creating learning experiences that reflect their natural curiosity. Teachers observe closely, listen deeply, and design projects and activities that expand on what children are already excited about—whether it’s insects, building, music, or storytelling.
Caring Community: We place a strong emphasis on social-emotional learning and creating a kind, respectful classroom culture. Children are supported in developing empathy, problem-solving skills, and confidence as members of a collaborative and compassionate community.
