THE MOTHER…

Leonor Ramos who is well known as “Mama Leo”, has been providing care since 1992. She held a Fairfax County Child Care Permit until 2017 when Pleasant Way Daycare became Virginia State Licensed. “Mama Leo” is a loving caregiver who with her extensive experience understands how to relate to children at every stage of their development. Her patience with children is like no other and she is masterful at supporting new babies and families as they adapt to their new lives. Countless families feel very fortunate that they spent every day of those formative years under the care of their beloved “Mama Leo”!

THE DAUGHTER…

Marcela Laureano, has been in the child care setting practically her entire life. She grew up observing her mother and learning how to care for children at a very young age. After spending 15 years working at a Pediatric Home Health Agency first as a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse taking care of medically fragile children in their homes to eventually taking on the role as the Senior Staffing Coordinator for the agency. Such position helped Marcela obtain the skills needed to run a business. She is well known for her honesty and integrity. Marcela has always demonstrated her love for children and desire to keep them safe and well cared for. Marcela strives daily to provide a unique environment where kids will play, learn, think and be curious.

Testimonials

Marcela & Mama Leo create an environment of love and learning! Our son (& us) love Pleasant Way Daycare like family ❤️ Here’s why: 🍎 Nurturing Environment & teachers 🍏 Engaging and interest-based learning 🍎Thoughtful communication (weekly updates of weekly focus, learning, upcoming/important dates & announcements) 🍏 Patience & Consistency -Marcela & Mama Leo are onboard as partners throughout all of the milestones and ensured consistency when starting new routines. 🍎In home multi-age atmosphere fosters genuine child-child and staff-child relationships. Younger kids thrive with having the older/positive role models 🍏Trust. Each and every day we knew Gus was loved and cared for just like he was with family. The hardest part of moving out of the area this summer was saying goodbye to Pleasant Way, Marcela & Mama Leo. Even 4 months later, Gus still talks about his friends, “cela” & “Tata.” Pleasant Way will always be a special place for our family and we are confident you will feel the same way. -Sara Q

Philosophy

Pleasant Way Daycare started in the summer of 2017. A mother and a daughter had a vision to create a high-quality child-care program.

Our program is located in Annandale, Virginia. We offer full-time care for children, ages 6 weeks-5 years old. Our staff meets and exceeds on all safety regulations. We are licensed and insured. We are CPR and first aid certified. We offer the USDA food program and provide home cooked meals. We have a licensed practical nurse on site. Bilingual (English and Spanish).

We offer a theme driven curriculum that includes but not limited to circle time, weekly letter box, yoga sessions, sensory boxes, arts/crafts, fine motor activities, singing, dancing, nature walks and daily outdoor play (weather permitting). We rotate books in our reading center regularly. Our dramatic play center gets changed quarterly. Some of our setups have included a space station, a market, a post office, a bakery, a construction site, an ice cream truck, a pizzeria, a library, a life-size igloo and a lemonade stand. We celebrate birthdays, and have annual celebrations of most holidays. During the summer we focus on extra outdoor play, water/sand play activities, exploring our light table, and playing with magnets.
