Our Teachers

Ms. Vantonia Johnson, POD’s Program Director and Lead Educator is a degreed Early Childhood Educator presently pursuing her Masters in Education. Ms. Van has over 11 years of experience in Early Childhood Education including work as a beloved nanny and an educator for Primrose Academy. She is actively involved in her church, and cites her ability to openly apply her Christian faith as her favorite part of working at Project One Day.

Philosophy

Project One Day (POD)’s mission is to bring the love and safety of Jesus Christ to infants and toddlers in Houston. POD does this via a unique cooperative childcare model whereby it trains parents to supplement teachers. Parents volunteer one day per week alongside a Christ-centered, experienced educator. In exchange they receive four days a week (44 hours) of FREE, highest quality childcare to facilitate work or education. POD’s model generates top-notch ratios in a high-quality environment for low-income families. Apart from volunteer time POD’s program is completely free to parents. Better yet, parents connect to a community of friends trained in childcare, people they can rely on in times of need.

About our program

Many schools fear parents. POD does the opposite. We invite parents in and equip them to be everything God intended— loving, attentive, and confident.
