Our Teachers

Anna-Marie

Im a mother of four wonder filled kiddos. I have spent a life time working with children, children with disabilities, adults with disabilities as well as individuals with PTSD and TBI. This has given me the ability to have extreme patience and empathy when it comes to working with individuals and their personal needs. I also have extensive knowledge in relations with nature, safety and environmental care and upkeep. I hope to be able to pass on the things I have learned to the next generation of young minds, to inspire them to have the same love for both the planet as well as the wellbeing of fellow humans. I hope to spark joy in adventure, creativity and knowledge in all kids who pass threw our doors.

Philosophy

We focus on a nature-based philosophy and incorporate STEAM, play, and RIE philosophies. What if we involved children in real-world activities where the end result and the process IS the reward? What if we taught them gardening, woodworking, repair skills, fiber arts, sewing, and cooking? What if we took children hiking to explore nature? What if we raised animals and taught children how to care for others besides themselves? Children learn all these things and more here.

About our program

We believe children learn best threw hands on exploration. With a little bit of guidance and the freedom to play, any child can develop a love of nature, living creatures, plants and more. We have a variety of things kids can do threw out the day to keep them moving, as young kids should be moving as much as possible during the day. We implement educational materials in a way they don’t even realize it 9 times out of 10.

We go into more in-depth learning about what plants are native, which ones can be used to treat scrapes and cuts, the different methods of growing. Learning about the growing cycles, different ways to grow plants, what bugs help them grow and so much more. Every child gets the chance to taste the things that they help us grow

We use things found in nature for craft time as well as to build forts and tents to help kids get creative and have adventures. We do mini hikes and treasure hunts, I-spy adventures and so much more.

We spend plenty of hands on time working with small livestock such as chickens, pigmy goats and rabbits. Learning about their individual needs and upkeep.

We also take time to learn about different cultures around the world to help children learn inclusivity as well as to give them the opportunity to expand their worldly knowledge and to allow them to try new things. Being in a military town we have families from all over the world, and many lovely families have been kind enough to share some of the things unique to their home countries.
