Our Teachers

Trisha Luhar has always dreamed of being a teacher since the day she met her first teacher in preschool. With a degree in Liberal Arts; Psychology and a focus on Child Development from Antioch University in Los Angeles, she immediately went into teaching. Her career began at an incredible, humanistic preschool in Mar Vista, California where she was mentored by most exceptional teachers and an amazing director who shared the same passion for children. After spending four years at that school, she decided to spread the love and philosophy elsewhere and moved to Philadelphia with a fresh start. She spent one year building classrooms and teaching at a local school, then branched off independently to begin Playology.

Philosophy

At Playology, we strive to show through example that all people and our earth is valuable. Our goal is to foster in the children an appreciation and respect for nature in their discovery of the world around them. Our philosophy is based on trusting the child’s innate ability to learn and to develop a true sense of self by offering age appropriate assistance in their development. Children learn to play cooperatively not competitively, and are encouraged to express their emotions while learning not to hurt others. We focus on the non-judgmental message that all feelings are part of human nature and that the child’s world view is understood and accepted, yet limits are set with an emphasis on helping children understand the effects of their decisions and actions on others and themselves. We help the children become active participants in resolving their own conflicts. At Playology, we encourage each child’s creativity with a mix of planned and spontaneous activities. Our intent is to spark their individual interests and talents. With parent participation we strive to build a strong community while fostering a supportive bridge between home and school.
