Our Teachers
Hello! I am Jacqueline Hart, the founder and director of Caring Hart’s Wonderschool. I first started my in-home child care because I had a difficult time finding high-quality child care for my three children. I had my in-home child care program in Brooklyn for 15 years, and I loved nurturing my students and making sure that they were cared for physically, mentally, and emotionally.
After I moved from Brooklyn to Valley Stream, I ran an after-school and summer program for two years, before deciding to start an in-home child care program in Valley Stream. I want parents to feel that they have a high-quality choice for child care in their neighborhood.
Philosophy
Please note that my license is pending. If you choose to enroll in my program, your child will not be able to start until after I receive my license. My pending license number is 860002.
At Caring Hart’s Wonderschool, we believe that children learn best when they are in an environment where they feel loved and encouraged, because that sense of comfort allows them to fully be themselves and discover what interests them.
As a Montessori-inspired program, we view the role of the teacher as a guide to help children engage in their own, independent exploration. We value spending time and playing outdoors because of the many opportunities the outdoors provides for children to investigate ideas that interest them.
Location
Our program is located in a welcoming single family home in a quiet, green neighborhood in Valley Stream. Children will enjoy their daily outdoor play in our backyard and at Arthur J. Hendrickson Park and Valley Stream State Park, both of which are down the street from our home.
We are located very close to the Southern State Parkway; when driving West, we are close to Exit 14 and when driving East, we are close to Exit 15S. We are a 10 minute drive from Queens.
We are next to Memorial Junior High School and Valley Stream High School, and Long Island Jewish Hospital is a seven minute drive from our home.
About our program
Being a Montessori-inspired program, we help our students learn to ask questions and search for answers through their own exploration. We focus on doing activities that develop our students’ motor skills and sense of independence. Using hands-on activities and open-ended toys, we guide our students to question the world around them and learn to identify patterns they observe.
We encourage children to do things at their own pace to ensure that they develop a love for learning and exploring. Our outdoor play is exploratory, whether we are studying how leaves change colors, looking for different kinds of rocks in the park, or bird-watching. We enjoy being creative with our children, and helping them develop their fine motor skills through drawing and playing with clay.
