Our Teachers

Hello! I am Yvonne, the founder of Yvonne’s Wonderschool. I have completed all of my Graduate studies in Early Childhood Education with an exception of Student teaching. I was inspired to start my own program because I enjoy working and teaching children . I also have a 10 year old daughter who has been with me through out this journey. It was her who initially sparked the fire in me to teach. I was at home with her for a year and I enjoyed it so much, there was not one dull moment. I have had this business for 6 years with prior experience working with friends and family.

Testimonials

Parents love bringing their kids here. I have not disappointed any parents in my 6 years of business.

Philosophy

At Yvonne’s Wonderschool, we believe that children grow, learn, and thrive by exploring the world around them. It is our goal to provide an environment that makes children feel welcomed and at home. In our program, children will feel genuinely cared for and cherished.

We use Creative Curriculum, a research-based, high-quality curriculum that’s designed specifically for the unique family child care setting. Creative Curriculum focuses on providing nurturing, intentional, and responsive experiences that are individualized for each child.

Location

Yvonne’s Wonderschool is located in a welcoming apartment in the Washington Heights neighborhood.

We’ve thoughtfully designed our care environment with play and learning areas that allow children to explore various developmentally-appropriate activities based on their interests. Some of our favorite areas include block area (for gross motor skills and problem solving), manipulatives and math area (for fine motor skills and beginning math concepts), and dramatic play area (for self-expression and empathy).

Children will spend about half of their time outdoors at a local park or playground. Children need space to run, jump, and move!

At Yvonne’s Wonderschool, I want to provide an environment that supports the cognitive, social, and emotional growth of each child.

About our program

Our program is special because I help prepare the children at an early age for pre-K and kindergarten. We also do science projects for afterschool kids and for the smaller kids that are interested. I have yet to find a child that does not find this fun. We also take the kids on trips outside the neighborhood. Just give us a try, we will not disappoint.
